Summery of Lamentations Jan. 4, 2025

Before we begin to get into the chapter 3 of Lamentations, (tomorrows post) for today I want to give you a bit of summary of it.

This is new territory for me. A book I have never studied. So I think knowing something about it, is important. And so the following is what I have found out so far.

Please read on:

Author: The Book of Lamentations does not explicitly identify its author. The tradition is that the Prophet Jeremiah wrote Lamentations. This view is highly likely considering the author was a witness of the Babylonians destroying Jerusalem. Jeremiah fits this qualification (2 Chronicles 35:25; 36:21-22). Who wrote the book of Lamentations? Who was the author of Lamentations?

Date of Writing: The Book of Lamentations was likely written between 586 and 575 B.C., during or soon after Jerusalem’s fall.

Purpose of Writing: As a result of Judah’s continued and unrepentant idolatry, God allowed the Babylonians to besiege, plunder, burn, and destroy the city of Jerusalem. Solomon’s Temple, which had stood for approximately 400 years, was burned to the ground. The Prophet Jeremiah, an eyewitness to these events, wrote the Book of Lamentations as a lament for what occurred to Judah and Jerusalem.

My thoughts:

If you read the first part of the 3rd chapter, which we will do tomorrow, it shows us that God's people had been very disobedient. 

We wonder why God allowed them to disobey Him time after time. And yet, isn't that what has happened throughout all history. 

And even us today.

We sin. He forgives.

We mess up. He forgives.

What must He do to get our attention?

Whatever it takes. But, He is always there to forgive us

because of His great love for us.

(side note) Well, Praise God that Mike Johnson was voted in to continue Speaker of the House.

Now I know that a lot of people don't like him because of his back tracking. I don't like him for that reason either.

However, without him, there would be problems for President Trump and his team to get sworn in and get started on the agenda for us, the American People right away.

Friends, we cannot afford the Biden Administra to go one more day than they are entitled to.

There is too much at stake.

I pray that President Trump will hold Johnson's feet to the fire. I hope you will continue to pray with me.

And also, for the protection of the people coming into this administration as well as people like you and me that are being targeted, like what happened just the other day on Bourbon Street and in other areas. It is not right. And I pray that the people involved that are still alive, will be found and made to pay for their crimes.

God's Mercies Jan 3, 2025

It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

Good morning, Friends. For the next few days I want to go through Chapter 3 of Lamentations. I believe it to be a really wonderful chapter that we can know the goodness of God. Before we begin though (starting with tomorrows post), I want to put our attention on verses 22-23 and be thinking about this chapter in that context. That God's mercies for us are indeed new every morning. His love is so great and we know that we can start each day fresh. The days before are gone forever. The days ahead have not arrived yet. All we have is right now. And we may not eve make it through this day.

Still yet, the day and this moment are here to know that God is watching out for us. He is hoping to connect with us. He is here to hear our heart felt prayers.

His mercies are indeed with us.

And so as we go through this chapter in the next few days, also keep your minds centered particularly on these two verses. 

I think if we do, we will be blessed.

Emergency Prayer

 Good evening, Friends

Please, please, please pray for God's will on the voting of Mike Jonhson being the Speaker again.  Without it, in my understanding, if he is not voted in, it could hold up Trump getting into office.

Biden is talking about bombing Iran's nuclear sites before Trump gets into office.

This country needs prayer. People and groups of people are trying to destroy us within and it won't be long that our enemies in other countries will try to do the same.

I am asking you to please humble yourselves before God asking him to protect our great nation and heal our land.

A New Creation Jan.2, 2025

Good afternoon, friends!

I came across this verse today and believe it is one that fits the second day of this new year to a T.

We think back over last year or even many years. And some of them probably weren't so great. When I really met Jesus though, I embarked on a life that brought me to this day. And even though things have never been perfect, I am thankful for the good things that He has brought into my life.

It is true.

Old things have passed away.

And all things become new.

Even now. 

Even this moment.

Because God always keeps His promises

we can count on it!

What is God Asking of You? Jan.1, 2025

Happy New Year, Friends!

 Are you excited to get started. Maybe on that new project that you have been planning?

Or that diet you know you need to work on?

Maybe a relationship needs to be restored and so this is the year you want to make it happen?

I have heard that a lot of people set a new year's resolution every year but end up not following through with it.

We could google the statistics on that, but who really cares?

Generally, I do not set them for myself because I am one that wouldn't follow through.

However, I believe that God is asking something of me for this year.

It is to get back to this blog daily. 

Like I used to.

Oh, there will be days I can't do ones that take a lot of thought.

But on those days, I can post a prayer.

A simple thought.

Or a scripture.

They don't always have to be large and thought provoking.

And so because God is asking that of me,

I am going to try not to let Him, or myself, and hopefully none of you-down.

I will plan to post something each day.

Pray for me to be able to keep up with it.

I am not as spry as I was when I started this blogg.

But I do want to still make my time count for God.

And you.

So my question for you today is:

What is God asking of you in this year of 2025?

If you don't know, ask Him.

And He will surely answer you.
