Heaven or not?

A question to ponder: Did Adam and Eve go to heaven when they died?

There doesn't seem to be a clear biblical answer for this question. It seems to me that since they were new on this earth, and didn't have concept of sin perhaps, God might have given them a second chance. After all God is a God of second chances. And yet, they did not have the shed blood of Jesus Christ yet to depend on to save them from the damnation of hell.

But then I am not God and He declares in His Word that His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways. Isahia 55:8-9

If, God created them with the ability to think and decide for themselves to sin or not, does that mean if they chose to sin, it was just too bad that since they did what God told them not to, they deserved whatever they got.

Or did His forgiveness reach down for them as it does for us?

On the other hand, God already knew what they would do, and so did that mean that he would give them a break?

I went to gotquestions.org to find what might be a clue to the question of where they spend eternity. Here is what it says:

Were Adam and Eve saved? The Bible does not specifically tell us whether Adam and Eve were saved. Adam and Eve were the only two human beings who knew about God before they became tainted with sin. As a result, they likely still knew God better after their fall than any of us do today. Adam and Eve most definitely believed in and depended on God. God continued to talk with Adam and Eve and provide for them after the fall. Adam and Eve knew of God’s promise that He would provide a Savior (Genesis 3:15). God made garments of skin for Adam and Eve after the fall (Genesis 3:21). Many scholars understand this as the first animal sacrifice, foreshadowing the eventual death of Christ on the cross for the sins of the world. Putting these facts together, it would seem that Adam and Eve were saved and did indeed go to heaven / paradise when they died.

It seems reasonable that God just did not give up on the first two people that He created. After all, He created them to have a relationship with Him. How sin effected their relationship is perhaps unknown in many ways. And yet it is interesting to know, as far as I am concerned. 

We ourselves are separated from Him until we truly repent of our own sin and are under the blood of Jesus. Thus, our second chance with Him.

But again, they did could not claim a second chance because Jesus had not shed His blood yet. 

Is there any other biblical evidence though that might help us figure out the answer to this question, or are we left to just wonder until we ourselves get to heaven and find the answer there?

We will take that up on 4/26 if you would like to see what I find. Better yet, you may want to look for it yourself. At any rate, I will be here that day to let you know more. That is if there is any that I can find.

About Eve

Have you ever been scammed? Or maybe tricked into doing something you might not really want to do? Or maybe, like Eve you were tricked into doing something that you were told not to do.

So begins the story of Eve in those gone days in the Garden of Eve.

Do you think that she might have given any thought to the enemy when he tempted her with the fruit that God said she could not have. Did she stop and think about the consequences for a minute? 

Or did she just jump right in there, not caring about what God had told her?

Should we feel sorry for her since she was new on this earth. She had not much experience in life? 

Or should we have negative feelings about her for doing that and taking away man's right to live a wonderful carefree life just like she and Adam were doing.

After all, for all of us as women, we have or will have to endure the pain of childbirth. In our minds, can we imagine her right here with us and have the right to blame her for our sin, just as Adam had done?

I suppose we could do that. But why? Why, when our sins are covered by the shed blood of Jesus, would we? We are no less guilty then when Eve chose to ignore God's warning. 

After all, when God created them, they were adults. They had everything they needed to understand and communicate with Him. Including, a brain to think with. They were without excuse.

Eve had been created in God's own image, just as Adam had been. And to stay she was too weak to say no to the enemy would gravely undo just how strong she was. After all, she brought for babies, and raised them. After her sin, she was thrown out of the garden, just as Adam was and made to work to survive. 

No, Eve was no slouch. At least in my opinion anyway. She was just like us. Hard working people that love God and want to follow Him. But at times we get discouraged, unhappy, bored, and maybe wanting things that God says no to us, as well. And just like Eve.....

...we sin. And at times we want to cast the blame for our sin, on to someone else.

But since there was no blood atonement for their sin yet, we wonder. Did Adam and Eve go to heaven or hell when they died?

Well, that is a good question which I will try to find an answer for on my next blog which I hope to have here on 4/24. Thank you for your patience with me during this past few days and also thanks for coming by today.  May God bless you!

Who Was She? Really?

Who Was Eve?

Really? 

Over the past week, I have been watching some videos on youtube.com about the so called, "Word of Faith" teachers. Now, don't get me wrong, Friends. I do not endorse this teaching myself. What I was watching, were video's from other teachers, or pastors that call these people out for the lies and deception that they are spouting to those people that follow them.

Still again, I am not going to get into them today. Perhaps if the Lord leads me, I will do that in upcoming posts.

However, it was through one particular video that a female was "preaching" about the Eve that lives with in her. Truly, she did not make much sense to me in her speaking's of Eve, but I guess that she might feel that all of us as women, have a bit of Eve's personality in us. Although it seemed to me that she might have been alluding to the fact that she had a split personality of Eve and herself. As if Eve lives within her enough that she tells this lady what to do in her every day life.

But I digress.

Watching that video did one thing for me. It allowed me to question what Eve-the second being to be created by God-might have been like, as the first woman on earth.

We know that she was created from Adam's rib. We know that she was the first ever human to sin thus getting Adam to also sin. We know that she had three sons-Cain, Able and Seth. 

But is there anything else we can take away from Eve that gives us an idea of who she was as a woman? Biblically speaking, of course.

One of my go-to places for answers to my bible questions is to gotquestions.org. And I actually did find some new information to me there:

• Eve had other son's and daughters Genesis 5:4
• Her name e comes from the Hebrew word chavâh, which means “the living” or “life.” Genesis 3:20 

We know that being the first woman created, she was known as the Mother of all living things.

Ok so the rest of it we know. She sinned. She got Adam to sin. Their sin became the curse for the rest of sin in the human race.  But what can we find out from the rest of scripture.?

Alleluia, Jesus is Alive!

The grave could not hold Him!

But is this the rest of the story?

In reality, no. The story of Jesus Christ was in the very beginning. It will never end. He is the Alpha and Omega.

His love endurth forever.

And one day, for those that love Him,

they will spend eternity with Him.

Like that stone that was rolled away from his grave, so our sins are rolled away. That when we confess them and ask His forgiveness, we are welcomed into His family.

"For as many as are led by the spirit, they are the sons of God. Romans 8:14

Good Friday

What Was Good Friday?

The Bible does not instruct Christians to remember Christ’s death by honoring a certain day. The Bible does give us freedom in these matters, however. Romans 14:5 tells us, “One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.” Rather than remembering Christ’s death on a certain day, once a year, the Bible instructs us to remember Christ’s death by observing the Lord’s Supper. First Corinthians 11:24-26 declares, “...do this in remembrance of me...for whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”

Why is Good Friday referred to as “good”? What the Jewish authorities and Romans did to Jesus was definitely not good (see Matthew chapters 26-27). However, the results of Christ’s death are very good! Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” First Peter 3:18 tells us, “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit.”

Many Christian churches celebrate Good Friday with a subdued service, usually in the evening, in which Christ’s death is remembered with solemn hymns, prayers of thanksgiving, a message centered on Christ’s suffering for our sakes, and observance of the Lord’s Supper. Whether or not Christians choose to “celebrate” Good Friday, the events of that day should be ever on our minds because the death of Christ on the cross—along with His bodily resurrection—is the paramount of the Christian faith.

And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!” Mark 15:21-41

Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross to take away the sins of the world and my sins as well! I don't deserve it but you loved me too much to let those of us that accept you to end up in that awful place called hell. Praise your Holy Name.

In the Garden

What Happened in the Garden of Gethsemane?

The garden at Gethsemane, a place whose name literally means “oil press,” is located on a slope of the Mount of Olives just across the Kidron Valley from Jerusalem. A garden of ancient olive trees stands there to this day. Jesus frequently went to Gethsemane with His disciples to pray (John 18:2). The most famous events at Gethsemane occurred on the night before His crucifixion when Jesus was betrayed. Each of the Gospel writers describes the events of that night with slight variations, so reading the four accounts (Matthew 26:36-56, Mark 14:32-52, Luke 22:40-53 and John 18:1-11) will give an accurate picture of that momentous night in its entirety.

As the evening began, after Jesus and His disciples had celebrated the Passover, they came to the garden. At some point, Jesus took three of them—Peter, James and John— to a place separated from the rest. Here Jesus asked them to watch with Him and pray so they would not fall into temptation (Matthew 26:41), but they fell asleep. Twice, Jesus had to wake them and remind them to pray so that they would not fall into temptation. This was especially poignant because Peter did indeed fall into temptation later that very night when three times he denied even knowing Jesus. Jesus moved a little way from the three men to pray, and twice He asked His Father to remove the cup of wrath He was about to drink, but each time He submitted to the Father’s will. He was “exceedingly sorrowful unto death,” but God sent an angel from heaven to strengthen Him (Luke 22:43).

After this, Judas Iscariot, the betrayer, arrived with a “multitude” of soldiers, high priests, Pharisees, and servants to arrest Jesus. Judas identified Him by the prearranged signal of a kiss which he gave to Jesus. Trying to protect Jesus, Peter took a sword and attacked a man named Malchus, the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. Jesus rebuked Peter and miraculously healed the man’s ear. It’s surprising that witnessing this amazing miracle of healing had no effect on the multitude. Neither were they shaken by His awesome display of power as described in John 18:5-6, where either at the majesty of His looks, or at the power of His words, or both, they became like dead men, falling to the ground. Nevertheless, they arrested Him and took Him to Pontius Pilate, while the disciples scattered in fear for their lives.

The events that occurred in the Garden of Gethsemane have reverberated down through the centuries. The passion Jesus displayed on that momentous night has been depicted in music, books, and films for centuries. From the 16th century, when Bach wrote two magnificent oratorios based on the gospel accounts of Matthew and John, to the present day with the film The Passion of the Christ, the story of this extraordinary night has been told again and again. Even our language has been affected by these events, giving us such phrases as “he who lives by the sword dies by the sword” (Matthew 26:52); “the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Mark 14:38); and “sweating drops of blood” (Luke 22:44). Of course, the most important impact of this night was the willingness of our Savior to die on the cross in our place in order to pay the penalty for our sins. God “made Him who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21). This is the gospel of Jesus Christ.

1.So, Jesus and His disciples had just celebrated Passover.

2. Jesus took Peter, James and John to a separated place, apart from the rest.

3. But they fell asleep.

4. Jesus woke them twice to tell them to pray.

5. Jesus moves away from them to pray and asked God to remove what He was about to do, from Him.

6. Jesus submits to His Father's will.

7. God sends an angel from heaven, to give him strength.

8, Judas arrives with soldiers, high priests etc. to arrest Jesus.

Judas gave Jesus a kiss to identify Him to those that had come to arrest Him.

9. Peter took a sword and cut off the ear of a soldier.

10. Jesus rebuked Peter and then healed the ear of the solider.

11. They arrest Jesus and took him to Pontis Pilate.

In thinking on the events that led up to the arrest of Jesus that night, you might wonder how people could want Jesus dead after He had just completed 3 years of the powerful message of God that He had brought to the sinfulness of humanity. 

So here are some of my thoughts on that night so long ago.

 These people were bent on getting rid of him, but they had to get someone to show them which one of the twelve was Jesus? 

Really?

Maybe these people did not want anyone exposing their sin. They wanted things left just as they were.

Did they want him dead because He was turning their hearts away from their own agenda?. At least some of them were. His friends and others had begun to see he wasn't just a human man.

 Plus, the head honcho of the day, was probably afraid of Jesus becoming the highest authority in the land, as we know that Herod had tried to have Jesus killed as a child. 

Of course, these people were government workers. We know how honest they were, right? Maybe some of them took pride in the events that were unfolding. Perhaps a ego trip that says, "Look at me. I am a big part of this." type of thing. 

The disciples fell asleep. I would never have done that. No, not me.  What about you? 

Sadly, we probably would have. That is a real picture of how lazy we can become in spiritual matters. Some things are just not as important as other things are when it comes to a relationship with God.

 

And lastly, why would Jesus heal the soldier's ear that Peter had cut oft

I have no doubt that with the message of forgiveness that Jesus came to give, he couldn't get angry and unforgiveable even at the last hours of his life here. He showed them (and us) that He did have the power to heal even during a time when is life was on the line. And not only that, but to forgive. It didn't matter what they were doing to Him. It just wasn't in Him to let that event stay as it was. 

A lesson in the forgiveness for all of humanity. A lesson to us that is important today as it was back then. 

Maybe you have some thoughts or insights about that evening that was leading to a dark trip to the cross. But the thing so marvelous about it was that the darkness to it, did not last. The grave that they laid his body in, could not and did not stay closed. It opened to a Glorius light and Jesus would burst out in triumph!!!

The sin of all humanity could now be forgiven for those that accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior!!!

Palm Sunday Bible Verses - Scriptures on Jesus' Triumphant Entry

Palm Sunday 2000 plus years ago:

The crowds hailed Jesus as King. They waved palm branches  and called "Hosanna, Hosanna. Blessed be the name of the Lord!"

How sobering the thought, that in just a few days, many of those people would send him to the cross to die. They didn't even understand why. They really had no idea that this was something that God had already designed to be. Whether they liked it or not. No matter what they said or did. It would happen. He came not in royalty but riding on a donkey. No crown on his head that sparkled in the sun that day. No purple robe as he rode that donkey into town. Just the Son of God, who came to earth as a man, to bear our sins.

Psalm Sunday 2023:

Where are we on this day?

Are we wrapped up in material goods.

Are we more interested in earthly pursuits.

Or are we thankful, and even grateful for what Jesus did during the Holy Week of over 2000 years ago.

Will Good Friday be a sobering day.

Will it be a day of celebration.

What will that day mean for you.
