Explaining James 1:3-4

 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

If we apply God's Word to our lives and especially when our faith is being tried as in verse 3, it teaches us patience. The work of patience grows as our faith matures. And that is our end goal, for our faith to be perfect.

It may not become as perfect as we would like. Not while we are on earth at least. But it surely will be once we go on to our heavenly home.

And in the meantime, it is a goal worth striving for. To learn to endure through the trials of life. Because that helps bring peace. 

I recently had a relative that was going through a difficult situation with another person she thought might sue her over something. She was mad and honestly I could understand why because it was undeserved. But she had pretty much worked herself into a tizzy worrying about it to finally I told her to STOP, because it was like she was going to bring on her own heart attack. 

She got good news the next day about it and has since not heard a word from this person or their lawyer.

Not that a lawsuit could not still happen but she needed to put her faith in to action. Not just lip service but real faith that God would get her through it no matter what and all the worrying she had been doing had not added a second to her life during that time.

Endurance is the fact or power of enduring an unpleasant or difficult process or situation without giving way:

There is no peace or joy in the worrying of a situation. But there is when we endure trials to their final end. And to ours.

Explaining James 1 :2-3

 In my opinion, this chapter in James is like the secret of how to live our lives and get through the hard things we face and yet not become bitter and worse yet lose our faith. Sadly, many Christians do not learn this and do become bitter or turn away from God.

So let's take a look at those two verses:

2.My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh pertinence.

But what are divers temptations?

In the Bible, the phrase “divers temptations” in James 1:2 means “various trials” or troubling tests of many kinds.

And how does verse 1 say to do this?

With joy.

With What? I am supposed to be happy when faced with a trial? Isn't that being counter reproductive?

The thing is, trials can be painful, and stressful. 

But they have a purpose in our lives. If we let them they work patience in us. And growth in our spiritual lives. Joy can spill out of us in our daily lives through trials to those around us. To show others the goodness of God. That in the midst of them, God has not abandoned us.

Each time we go through something hard, we should become a bit stronger for the next one we go through. 

And if look at them with joy and not dread, we don't get bitter at our circumstances. We can have joy in the Lord knowing that no matter what, He will get us through it because in Him there is strength for us. (Nehemiah 8:10)

So the next time we start to go through a hard time, let us not complain. Let us not curse God. Let us not fear it.

But let us know with joy that God is doing a work in us. One of faith. One of strength. One that can be a help to us when the next hard thing that may come along.

Biblical Mistake!: I am so sorry

Hello Friends, I am sooo sorry. I quoted the wrong scripture. That scripture reads:

3 Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.

4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.

The scripture I meant for us to go over is James 1:2-3 and that reads:

2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations.

3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

So again, I am so sorry. I would never knowingly try to mess up God's word. And so, I am asking you to read James 1:2-3 again, and I will be back tomorrow to try to discuss it. This chapter in James is really good and very relevant for us today.

James 3:3-4

Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith  bring out endurance  and steadfastness and patience. (Vs 3)

But let endurance and steadfastness and patience  have full play and do a thorough  work, so that you may be perfectly and fully developed, lacking in nothing? ( Vs 4)
