Bible Study

 

In my studies of the Bible, as well as using it in the content that I post, I often use different websites to help me. Not only to understand scripture but the ability to make what I am trying to say-make sense to those that will read it.

In so doing, of course-we should be careful about what sites we go to look for biblical information. As with everything, not everything can be trusted.

And so, for today's blog, I thought I would go to my very favorite site and ask what sites they recommend as the best.

This aligns with the biblical call to grow in knowledge and discernment: “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18, ESV).

GotQuestions.org is also a valuable tool for topical Bible study. While it’s not a Bible text site per se, it provides biblically grounded answers to thousands of theological and practical questions. It’s especially helpful when trying to understand how Scripture applies to specific life issues or doctrines. As Proverbs 4:7 says, “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight” (ESV).

Each of these websites is grounded in a high view of Scripture and seeks to equip believers to rightly understand and apply God’s Word. For the most fruitful Bible study, it’s wise to use a combination of these tools, always testing everything against the truth of Scripture itself (Acts 17:11).

I use gateway.org when I use scripture. Mostly the KJV although I have recently found it is not always the best version of the Bible. But on that site. there is a variety of translations that are available and of course caution is advised because some translations are not the best ones to use.

I am sure you have noticed that I also use Pinterest for my graphics. Sometimes something in those graphics gives me an idea for a post. Like it did in this one today. However, I always want God to lead me to what I am to post each day.

I used to use journaling in my Bible Studies in the past. But that was back before the computer came to my home and I had to use paper. And back then while raising my kids, I did not have a blog available (much less know what one was) for people to come to that are interested in the same things that I am.

However, I am not opposed to that way of studying the Bible for those that use it. It's a good, centered way of letting God speak to you through His word. 

I would encourage everyone to do their own study in God's Word. Don't just take mine or anyone's else's word that what they read is truth. Even your pastors or S. S teachers. In this day where truth is no longer an important thing for a lot of people, the enemy would deceive those and even the very elect, if he can. (Mathew 24:24). And sadly, in this day and age, many are being deceived and if they don't make sure they follow someone that is teaching them the truth, it will lead them to some place they did not want to go. 

Anyway, I just wanted to encourage you in that and give you some tips on how to study God's Word. Friends, we are living in a crazy time in history. We need to draw near to Jesus so that He will draw near to us. Otherwise, we may be doomed as the end of times comes closer to us.

Prayer: What is so important about it?

Prayer.

 This sign says it is that it is the most important conversation of our day. But is it? And if it is, why is it important?

For one thing, God has given us a way to communicate with Him. He wants to hear from us. He wants to spend time with us. 

As we know, some days we need to have someone that we can speak to about what is going on in our lives right now. The good and the not so good. If we can't always get someone on our phones, we don't have to worry. For it is God whose name we should call on first. He is always there for us. 

Jeremiah 33:3 tells us to call upon Him and He will tell us great things. 

When we talk to him, we are drawing close to Him and he wants to have that kind of relationship with us. He will draw near to us as we draw near to Him. (James 4:8)

Praying gives us a way to unburden our souls to Christ. To ask for forgiveness. To keep our accounts with God, current. 

It gives us a chance to be ever thankful for His goodness to us. For loving us. For sending His Son Jesus to die for our sin. Our praise for Him should continually be in our mouth. Psalm 34:1. And when we do this, it is an act of worship to Him.

Some may ask, if God already knows what we are going to pray for, why pray?

To that I would say Friends, even Jesus prayed to His Father. For his friends, for himself, and even His enemies. And more....

Do you know that Jesus even continues to pray for us today? (Hebrews 7:25, Romans 8:34}

Wow, that should make our day every morning, to know that as we sleep, as we wake, as we go about our life here on earth, we are on His mind and in His heart that He would be praying for us! 

Yes, prayer is a very important part of our daily life in so many ways. And it is not something we have to go to a priest to confess our sins to. It is not something that we have to give money to a church to have them pray for us. We don't always have to go to our prayer closet to pray. It is ava l available to us at any second of any day.

It is God's free gift to us. Right along with eternal life through Christ, when we accept Him. That is how important it is to Him. 

What about us? Is it that important to us? If not, it should be.

Who is God (Part 33 Last in this series)

 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalms 23:1

God did not leave His creation hanging after the sin of Adam and Eve took place in the Garden.  He provided the way for us to follow Him. If we could look back in real time and see how He guided His children all through their lives, I think we would be amazed. Amazed at his patience with them, but more amazing was His love. 

But we do have the Bible hat lets us know all about who God was then and that is more than sufficient for us in these days when the world is so crazy.

We can see this in real time now as He has taken care of you and I. Through the good times, yes. But more so through the not so good times. 

He is our Great Shepard. And He leads us through the darkness to the light. Because that is....

Who God is!

Who is God (part 31)

 

9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:  Colossians 2:9-10

Everything we need resides in the Godhead of Christ Jesus who is above all. 

Thats who God is.

Who is God (Part 30)

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. Romans 5:10

Jesus shed His blood to save any and all that would ask by faith to forgive their sins.

Not only that, but this read what verse 11 says in that passage says:

11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. (vs 11)

When we understand that God has saved us, we experience immeasurable joy in knowing that we will one day spend eternity with Him in heaven and not go to the place He has prepared for the devil and his demons.

It is a joy unspeakable and full of glory as the hymn goes. God wants us to have that joy because as we know...

Who is God (Part 29)

 

15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. John 15:15

What other god can call us his or her friend? Budha? Baal? Hermes?

We can name many more false gods that people have invented to worship. But who of these, can call us a friend like Jesus did in this passage of John?

Of course, the answer is NONE! 

God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit-they call those of us that have accepted Jesus as our personal Savior-Friend.

God who sent His Son Jesus to die for us.

Jesus that laid down His life for us.

The Holy Spirit that teaches us and comforts us. 

We have the best Friend in the triune God, that is the One that calls us Friend.

When others leave us. When they disappoint us. When they get mad at us. When they quit loving us.  It is God who will  never leave or forsake us. Because...

 that is who God is!
