He's coming!

 

"He's coming! He's coming!" shouts a small child excitedly. "Who's coming!" asks his mother, knowing full well who the child means. "The Easter Bunny, the Easter Bunny is coming! " 

Ah yes, the Easter Bunny is just a few short weeks off. And children can't wait to wake up and find the wonderful treats that morning, that he has sure to leave.

The ones that still believe in him, that is. 

I don't have a new blog about Easter to send to you today. But I actually do have one. 

Please forgive me if I cheat a little and reprint one from another blog. that I had done in December of 2019. Actually, that one starts off with Christmas. But I had asked the question of why I put the Christmas and Easter together, that time. 

And the answer had been, because we can't have one without the other.

So, forgive me for today, for printing the same story with a bit of a different slant to it, to remind us of how important these holidays are to those of that know Jesus. 

Read on:

Isn't it ironic that while we celebrate the birth of Christ this month, that we bring a Christmas tree into our homes and decorate it with beautiful ornaments? And we put pretty packages filled with things we want to give others, underneath them.

 And yet, the birth of the baby whose birth we celebrate grew up to hang on a tree for our sins. How ugly it was, that he was killed in such a gruesome way, with his life's blood running down the cross.

His friends and family may have gathered underneath watching him die. Or perhaps nearby.  Not understanding why fully. It was truly a sad day for them. No wrapped gifts under that tree.

There was surely nothing pretty about it if we look at that aspect of it. But, when we reflect on why he did it, it becomes something that is beautiful. He gave us a gift, not wrapped up with pretty bows, but something more meaningful to be sure. Something that would never die. Something whereby we could live forever.

Why do I put the two of those together? The birth and the death of Jesus Christ, during this month? Because we can't have one without the other. And more importantly then those really, is the fact, that death did not hold him. These three events all go together whenever we think on Jesus and why he came to earth as a babe in a manger in a barn. And that is what is beautiful, during the Christmas and Easter Seasons of our celebrations.

And so while you are enjoying this season, and preparing for the Easter Bunnys visit to your home this year, remember the tree that held Jesus with the nails in his hands, and be ever thankful that he was willing to do that for you and me. Because... he didn't have to.

God's Word....

.. .....really speaks to us during those times we choose to listen. Did you hear what He said to you today? Did you bother to open His word to find out? What is He saying to you today?

I must confess. There have been days recently that life has made it hard for me to get in there and meditate on God. 

Oopps. That isn't right. It is an excuse.

Was I just too lazy to do it?

Maybe. But then I have been too pre-occupied at times with problems within our extended family. 

Is that a good enough excuse? A fair assessment?

Probably not.

 Forgive me, Lord Jesus. Help me to trust in you. Help me forgive. Help me to put you first. And thank you that I have access to you when there are so many that don't.  Amen.

Mine Isn't Either....

 Hello Friends. I am sorry I have missed being here for a couple of days. Due to some different things within our family, I couldn't be. And I apologize. I need to take some time to wind down today from what seems like a wind fall and concentrate on what God is doing in our lives and be thankful that I am still here to do that. God is good and as I said the other day, your story (and mine too), are not over just because things don't always go the way we want them to. God has not written our final chapters but those he has thus far are beneficial for us and will someday end up getting us to the end.

And so, with that being said, I hope to be back tomorrow as usual. I hope God is blessing you in every way possible. Take care!

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.  Psalm 51:11

Don't You Do It!

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Exodus 20:7

The first time that I ever read the above statement, we were in the office of a mill company. They had it on a sign and posted on the wall.  And its certainly true. 

Actually, I hate hearing that whenever someone takes God's name in vain after they have done something that didn't come out right. Or when they did something that made them angry with themselves.

I was raised in a very conservative Christian home.'

Don't get me wrong, we were not perfect, but to take God's name was taboo. And in my life today, it still is.

God. The Creator of all that we know and more, commands (not asks) us to not take his name that way. And someday, for those that have and do, one day it will come out in the wash.

In other more precise words, even though we may get away with it for now, we won't forever. 

We just won't

Can't Be Stolen!

 

 

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. John 10:27-29

Notice what Jesus is saying there. "MY sheep hear my voice, and I Know them, and they Follow ME".

He goes on to say, "I give them eternal life...they shall never perish...neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."

So, we wonder. What does that mean for some one that asked Jesus into their life, only to turn away from him at a later time and go off on their own.

If we (they) are really redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ, I don't believe he will turn away from us, like we do him.

Reading the parable of the lost sheep in Mathew 18:10-14 the Shepard goes to find that sheep that has gotten separated from the rest of the flock. Jesus is our Shepard. Our Good Shepard and if he is such, he is willing to go out and return us to him, and it proves he is not taking our salvation. Rather bringing us back to himself.

I know he has done that in my life, for me. At times when I have turned away, he has pursued me until I couldn't run any more.

Oh, he will allow us to enjoy our sin, but eventually he will also let us wallow in it until we get so sick of ourselves that we will humbly turn back to the Good Shepherd that we should have never left in the first place.

We like sheep have all strayed, each to his own way.....(Isahia 53:6).....I give them eternal life and they shall not perish...(John 10:27)

What kind of a promise is that?! 

One that we can put into our heavenly bank account where our treasures are laid up and which nothing can corrupted or be stolen from us!

That is what kind of promise it is. AMEN!!!!
