New Bible Study Starts Tomorrow (08/25)

Hello Friends. I hope you have had a good weekend.

In todays post, I just wanted to let you know

about the new Bible Study that I will

be starting.

For the next few days (at least) we will

be going over what the Bible says about Baptisim.

It looks like there might be quite a bit of information

about this topic. And so I am

not quite sure about its length, as I have not

looked over it all. And so, I need to take some time to

look over it before we begin.

For today, we pick up our reading of Revelation 14:20,

as I did not get it quite finished yesterday.

Thanks for coming and may God bless your day!

Revelation 14:20

20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

Revelation 14:20 Explained

Revelation 14:20 describes a climactic vision of God’s judgment: “And the winepress was trodden outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, for a distance of two hundred miles” (KJV; NLT about 180 miles) Bible Hub+1.

Context in Revelation 14

This verse follows the “two harvests” imagery in verses 14–20. First, the Son of Man reaps the earth (symbolizing the righteous), and then an angel gathers the grapes of the earth (symbolizing the wicked) and throws them into the great winepress of the wrath of God godsbless.ing+1. The winepress is a prophetic symbol of God’s judgment, where the grapes represent those who oppose Him biblerepository.com.

Symbolism

  • Winepress: Represents God’s wrath and the crushing of the wicked. In the Old Testament, winepresses were used to crush grapes for wine; here, the “grapes” are the rebellious nations or individuals Bible Hub+1.

  • Treading outside the city: The winepress is not in Jerusalem but outside, symbolizing that God’s judgment will be executed on the nations, not just the city of God’s presence Bible Hub.

  • Blood flowing to horse bridles: The depth of the blood is as high as a horse’s bridle, indicating a massive, widespread slaughter Bible Hub+1.

  • Distance (1,600 stadia / ~200 miles): This vast measurement emphasizes the scale of the judgment—countless lives lost, affecting a wide area Bible Hub+1.

Theological Meaning

This vision shows:

  • God’s sovereignty: The Son of Man (Christ) personally reaps and judges, underscoring that judgment belongs to Him, not human vengeance www.pastorjasonelder.com.

  • Finality of judgment: The graphic imagery conveys that unrepentant sin will face God’s wrath, and there will be no escape biblerepository.com.

  • Triumph of God: The blood imagery also symbolizes the victory of God’s kingdom over evil, as the wicked are separated from the righteous godsbless.ing.

Application

For believers, this passage reassures that God’s justice will be executed, but it also calls for repentance and faith in Christ before the appointed time. It warns against complacency in sin, reminding that God’s patience is not endless biblerepository.com+1.

In short, Revelation 14:20 is a vivid, prophetic picture of God’s ultimate judgment on the nations, symbolized by the winepress and the river of blood, underscoring both the severity of sin and the certainty of God’s righteous retribution
