A Thought, A Prayer or A Bible Verse? Or Maybe All Three

 A positive thought, whether small or large each morning can indeed start off our day in the right direction. But how about adding more to that? How about adding a prayer, or a bible verse or maybe doing all three? So I will start. (Even though I have been up awhile, and just getting here)

A thought: I believe I am going to have a good day. A day that God Himself made for me.

A prayer: Father, please give me a blessed day in your name. And help me to forgive others today instead of letting me be bitter towards them.

A Bible Verse: "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” Jeremiah 29:11-12

And don't forget: Thank you, Jesus for all you have done for me.

An Early Mother's Day Tribute

 

Happy Mother's Day to my mom, and all mothers out there.....

My mother went to be with Jesus in 1995. Sometime after that, her sister gave me mom's diary that mom had given her. I tried to read it at one time. However, the book itself is small and her writing was a bit cramped due to the fact that she tried to write a whole weeks' worth of her life on each page. 

However, my son-in-law who has very good eyesight had been working on transcribing it page by page and each time, another bit of her life, seemed to come to life.

The diary started out when she was just a teenager in 1941 and went on for the next year and a half. It tells of her high school interests, her friends, how she met my dad, and having her first two babies, my sister in 1943 and my brother in 1944. 

It opened up a new world that had belonged to her during those years, which of course I never knew. But it told me how she had taken piano lessons, enjoyed sports, got good grades in school and began the married life with the man (my dad) that had won her heart. 

There were many surprises to learn in those pages. Because what I mostly knew of her was what came into her life years later, of course. And a lot of that had turned in to both physical and mental pain which had affected not only our immediate family, but our extended family as well.

And some of us dd not understand where her life had gone from the time, she was a teenager, to a mother with four kids and the problems that can come with life.  

I can't recall of when she first started dancing during my lifetime. But it was in the 70s, and she had gotten into a Senior Citizen's group in her area. She loved her dancing classes. And now and then when we would be visiting her, she would try to get us to dance with her. 

But sadly, I was not into dancing. Never had been, even as a teenager myself. And who wanted to do that. I had four of my own kids then. I didn't have the energy. Or maybe I didn't want to have it. 

Now looking back, I wish I had known about her dancing when she was a teenager. Maybe I could have gotten her to tell me about that time in her life. 

But as it was, my life's music had not played out like I would have chosen the kind of it, if I could have. Just like hers, I had to wait a few years before I could consider how to dance to it. Just like she did. 

No, I don't physically dance even now. But I do it through the memories of long ago, when mom had tried so hard to get us to dance with her. 

And I give thanks to God that had brought me through it, just as He did for her so many years ago. 

I don't know if there is dancing in Heaven, but if there is-my mom is probably one that is getting people together to do that. Just like she had us. And I would venture to also say, that up there, she doesn't have to talk anyone into it. 

Thank you, God. For my mom whose life was filled with so much pain. But is now living it pain free. You gave her the gift of joy which she tried to share with us at a time when some of us were going through our own pain. 

Thank you, my Friends, for sharing with me a look back into the past of a mother that had been so misunderstood, but now I am able to know her from a different perspective.

Just a Encouraging Message Today

I know that I am surely not alone in having problems in this world.

And that is why I just want to give you a encouraging message for today:

Jesus died for your sins

Jesus rose from a cold grave for you,

Jesus prays for you,

Jesus lives for you,

and best of all,

Jesus is coming back for his children that know Him!

Friends, when we are passing thru the waters, He will not let us drown.

And when we walk through the fire, He will not let us burn.

Isaiah 43:2

What other false god or teacher can promise us this?

Not one

Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? Exodus 15:11

How can we know these things?

We can know them by accepting Jesus as our Savior.

and by believing on Him!

What, No Rapture? (This was supposed to be posted April 9)

Hello Friends

I did not try to post anything about yesterday's eclipse. And now that it's over, I am not going to say much about it. Because really-what is there to say about it?

There were a lot of questions among Christians and Non-Christians alike, that have been going on for some time about it. And as it drew near, no doubt there were even more that came up.

The one thing was that people was thinking that maybe it would be the Rapture of the Church, or the end of the world. I guess that about all that really did, was get people to thinking about those events that will eventually happen.

But if you read the Bible, you will know that though we are living in the end times, the actual end of time would not happen on April 8,2024. Because it is clearly stated in Mathew 24:36 that no one knows the day or the hour that Jesus will come. People can predict all they want about Jesus returning. But He will not come until God is ready for Him to come, no matter what physic or false prophet's tries to tell us. And so, if we are listening to people that actually were predicting that Jesus would come during that time yesterday, we can safely say they are false prophets. 

The Bible is the only source we should be looking to.  

There are signs in the sun, moon and stars and more as the following scripture tells us:

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh Luke 21:25

Jesus tells us to watch for those signs that will be seen before his coming.

But do you know what is even more important than that?

It is being ready for when Jesus does come, that we will go back to Heaven with him to spend eternity with Him. Because if we aren't ready-if we have rejected Him-it will be too late. And we will end up in a place called Hell.

And so, Friends, there is no mistaking that people were looking at the signs that could point to Jesus coming or at the very least something could happen.

So, we will continue to look up for answers as to when Jesus will come back and yet know that we can't exactly know the day or hour. But He will come.

And it will be when we least expect and not when someone tries to predict it. 

April 8,2024 has come and gone.

We are still here.

We still have a choice.

What will it be?

Heaven with Jesus?

Or hell with Satan?

You decide.

 Hello Friends. If you prayed for me, I really thank you so much. I know it is the prayers of my friends that are turning my situation around and I am almost back to normal. (see post below) I am going to take another day to get some things done that I have neglected for the past few days, but I intend to be back tomorrow to finish the post that I started the other day.

Jewish Holiday: Yom HaSoah

I am sorry I have not been able to get here these past few days. There has been a lot going on in the family that we have had to deal with. But God is good and getting us through it, and best of all, we are so thankful that Jesus is alive and as I told a friend recently, we can take comfort in the fact that He is praying for those of us that believe in Him.

I am going to take up sort of back where I left off, with the Jewish holidays. The one today will be celebrated later this month.  So here goes:

Yom HaSoah

One of the “appointed feasts of the LORD” given to Israel in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) is known today as Rosh Hashanah, literally “Head of the Year.” We read about Rosh Hashanah in the Torah, the Jewish Law found in the first five books of the Hebrew Bible. “And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Speak to the people of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall observe a day of solemn rest, a memorial proclaimed with blast of trumpets, a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work, and you shall present a food offering to the LORD’” (Leviticus 23:23–25).

Rosh Hashanah, or the Jewish New Year, is also known as Yom Teruah or the Day of Trumpets. The word teruah means “to shout or make a noise,” so this holiday is marked by the blowing of the shofar or ram’s horn in Jewish synagogues around the world. Rosh Hashanah falls on the first day of the Hebrew month of Tishri on the Jewish calendar, which usually corresponds to September or October. It always falls on the seventh new moon of the Jewish year. After the destruction of the Jewish temple in Jerusalem in AD 70, even though this feast day falls on the seventh month of the Jewish religious calendar, it began to be called Rosh Hashanah and became the beginning of the Jewish civil calendar.

Rosh Hashanah begins a ten-day period leading up to the holiest day of the Jewish calendar, Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. These ten days are called the yomim nora’im or Days of Awe in modern Judaism. The sounding of the shofar on Rosh Hashanah is a wake-up blast and a sobering reminder that the time is near for the Day of Atonement. It is a call to teshuvah, which is repentance and turning back to the LORD. These ten days are ones of great introspection, heart-searching and self-examination. The sound of the shofar for the Jew was, and still continues to be, a call to examine one’s life, to make amends with all those one may have wronged in the previous year, and to ask forgiveness for any vows one may have broken. So the primary theme of Rosh Hashanah is one of repentance.

During Rosh Hashanah a common greeting/blessing is “May your name be inscribed”—a wish for one’s name to be written in the book of life. Jewish people enjoy sweets on Rosh Hashanah: treats made with apples, honey, raisins, figs, and pomegranates. Eating sweet things symbolizes the desire for a “sweet” year; also included is the idea that the enjoyment of sweet things can help counter the sorrow associated with repentance. In the eating of pomegranates, some Rosh Hashanah celebrants express the wish that their good deeds will be as numerous as the seeds of the pomegranate. Others eat portions of the head of a fish or a sheep, symbolizing the desire to be “the head, not the tail” (see Deuteronomy 28:13).

According to rabbinic tradition, on Rosh Hashanah the destiny of the righteous and the wicked are sealed. The righteous are written into the Book of Life, and the wicked are written into the Book of Death, but most people won’t be written into either book. These are given the ten days until Yom Kippur to exercise repentance and self-examination and then seal their fate. Then, on the Day of Atonement, everyone has his or her name inscribed into one of the two books.

Like all of the Lord’s appointed days in the Hebrew Bible, Rosh Hashanah points Christians to an even greater reality. For those who have placed their faith in the Jewish Messiah, Jesus, we understand the true meaning of the call to repentance and of turning our hearts toward God. The God of the Bible indeed has a Book of Life and a Book of Death. The Bible clearly warns us that on the Day of Judgment, which is yet to come, anyone’s name not found in the Book of Life will reside in the lake of fire for all eternity (Revelation 20:15).

For those who have placed their trust in the atoning work of Jesus through His life, death, burial, and resurrection (2 Corinthians 5:21), their names are already written into the Lamb’s Book of Life. And now, even we believers in Jesus listen for that trumpet call, “For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:16–18).  (Credit: gotquestions.org)

He Arose from the Grave!!!

From somewhere beneath the earth, came a rumble. An earthquake so great was only the beginning of that wonderful morning, when the Son of God, would prove to the world that no tomb could hold him.

Did Jesus calmy get up and exit the dark place that had He had been placed in, just three short days ago?

No, I don't believe so. I imagine that He burst forth from that place just as mighty as the earthquake itself had in that few moments before. For it was the victory of the Saviour who had shed His blood, and he was about to show it to the world!

It has been such a sight that even the soldiers that were outside guarding the tomb, "did shake and become as dead men" the bible says. 

Jesus had just done the possible. He had justified his own death in the sight of His Father. And to a sin ridden world.

The horribly bloody cross had now become an object of beauty. Jesus had allowed His blood to turn around the events of the days before, to show us what it really had meant. 

How good is God?

He had so loved the world,

That He gave His only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth on Him,

should not perish,

but have everlasting Life.

John 3:16

That is how Great God is. And today, as we celebrate this truth of the gospel, we can be all so thankful that we are a part of it.
