Standing on God's Promise (Promise #6)

Our God is a God of miracles. Of making wonderful things happen in our lives. We can look for them. We can expect them. And sometimes he does those kinds of things, just because.

Just because what? Or why?

Just because he loves us.

Just because he may remind us that he is for us.

Not against us.

Just because he can

Just because he is God.

It's as simple as that.

If you need a miracle today,

ask him for one.

Expect it.

But be sure not to rush ahead on your own.

Wait for him.

Thanks for coming by, Friends

God bless you!

Standing on God's Promise (Promise #5)

If we read that verse, we might wonder why God would want such a promise in the bible that isn't true. I mean, we know that there are many people that are fearful, and many that do not have a sound mind.

So why God? Why is that a promise and seeming not the truth?

Well, there is an answer for that. And the answer is that we live in a fallen and broken world. And those problems just aren't easily dealt with in a world that does not see or do things God's way.

Medications, though maybe for some are a good thing. For others, not so much.

Therapy with someone who is not a Christian, is not always a good thing.  Not that all therapist are bad people. But consider this verse:

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...Psalm 1:1

It is just better that when we need counseling, we go to someone that knows what God's word says.

The subject of mental illness or even just trying to get over being fearful about something can be quite troubling, not only for the person but their family as well.

So, the first place to look is to the Lord. Let him direct us to the help we need.  Because if we.....

...trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

Another promise to us that he will take care of us.

Thanks for coming by today, Friends

God bless

Standing on God's Promises (Promise #4)

Let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we migHht obtain mercy when we need it the most. Hebrews 4:16

Do you need God's mercy today? How about his grace? I don't know about you, but I need both his mercy and his grace every day, 24/7.

Therefore, he wants us to come BOLDLY before him and when we do, he gives us the mercy and grace that we so desperately need.

We don't have to be timid or weak. And if we do feel those ways, we can ask him for his strength, and he is ready to give that too us as well.

Thanks for coming by today. May his blessings rain upon you.

Standing on God's Promises (PROMISE #3)

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Genesis 3:15

Genesis 3:15 is the very first promise we find in God's Word. Adam and Eve had sinned. And then they tried to cover it up by blaming it on someone else. Adam blamed Eve and she blamed the serpent (
Satan)

What to do now, they might have wondered. So they tried to hide from him. God had given them this beautiful garden that had every provision in it that they would ever need. Now, was death all there was to look forward to?

But God knew that they were human and were also imperfect. Unlike the creations in heaven that were perfect. Except for those that followed Satan, of course.

He knew that there would be many more people born into this world that would sin and he did not want to see all of his creation end up in hell with the devil.

And so, this passage in Genesis was and is his promise to us that there would be a Savior coming that would crush the head of the one who had talked Eve into eating from the tree that God had forbid them to.

And of course, that was what Jesus did when he died on the cross to become the Sacrifice for all that would believe.

It was God's grace that made it all possible to give us the promise of yesterday in John 3:16. But because he is a gentleman and does not push his will on anyone, he also gives us the choice.

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15

I am thankful that when Adam and Eve did what they did that could have ruined it for the world that was coming, God's grace made the promise that there would come One that would save the world for their sins. For those that would choose to follow him.

Thank you for coming by. Have a blessed day!

Standing on God's Promises (PROMISE #2)

Are you going through a hard time today? Is something bothering you? Are you sad, lonely, depressed? Worried? Wondering how you are going to get through a difficult situation?

Well, take heart. You are not alone. You would not be human if you did not feel these things in difficult times. And let's face it. We have a lot to be worried about. With all that is going on in the world. In our government. And in our families.

But the difference between us as Christians and those that do not proclaim the name of Jesus, is that he doesn't let us just flounder in our misery.

He has given us hope and that hope is found in the many promises that are sprinkled throughout his Word.

Did you know there are over 7,000 of them. God must have known we would need that many to get us through life. Because life is not easy.

If we can grasp a passage or two, whenever our hope seems to be dwindling, then he gives us the rest and the peace that we need. The kind of hope that escapes the world that cannot understand it because they don't know Jesus.

And so, for today, take this one into your heart and carry it with you. Especially if you are facing a hard day. Because he is with you. He will not fail or forsake you. What a promise we have knowing that he will be with us. No matter what happens.

And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8

Thanks for coming by today, Friends. God be with you!

Standing on God's Promises (PROMISE #1)

R

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him, should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Think of it. God sent his Son to die for the Whole world. Not just the church/government leaders of the day. Not just the elite. Not just the poor. Not just you. And not just me.

The world is a big big place. I looked up an estimate of about how many people live in the world today. It said that approximately 7.6 billion of us occupy it. That is a lot of people. But that is today. It is also estimated that approximately 100 billion have lived here since the beginning of time.

I ask you. Of all the other proposed gods of this world, can any other but Jesus make that claim. Could Mohammed? Or Budha? How about the modern day "gods" like Jim Jones and David Koresh?

Those men and many others could not honestly make the claims that Jesus did. Oh, they have tried and some still do. However, many have died and not come back to life. Only One did that.

Jesus.

Notice that I put a period after His name.

Because He is It. There is no other under heaven that can make the claims that Jesus did. And he proved it by dying on the cross and shedding His own blood....

and then raising from the dead...

For the Whole world!

This is the greatest promise the bible holds. First and foremost. Because without it, we will not enter heaven to live with him...

forever.

And God help those that reject him. Because they kill him over and over every day with their rejection.

Think about it, Friends. And thank God you aren't one of them.

Thanks for coming by today.

God bless!

Standing on God's Promises { New series}

Have you ever given any real thought to God's promises to you? Have you ever thought they couldn't possibly be for you? Maybe you don't deserve them. Or that maybe he just used them to fill the bible with something?

Well, that last question may seem silly and perhaps to some it is. But to others, well maybe they really do doubt that overall, his promises just don't include them.

I am from Ohio, but we moved from there a few years ago. And because I can't go to the Baptist church I used to attend there; I tune in to their Sunday Services each week online. The pastor was preaching today on God's promises, and I thought it would be a good idea to start my own series.

Why?

Because though they were written in another time, they are just as relevant for us today, as they were back then. Times have changed, sure.

But God's Word is still the same. And because we can claim them as our own, we can have the hope that they will get us through the tough times. Just like they did in Bible days.

With that in mind starting tomorrow (August 23) we will begin with one promise a day and perhaps a bit of interesting info about why it is important to us, or who might have said it.

Please come back to hear what we can learn about God's promises.

Thanks for coming by and have a wonderful and blessed Monday!

12 Simple Ways to Worship God (Tip 12)

12 Simple Ways to Worship God Everday

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1-2

12. Take care of yourself.

If you’re like me, it’s easy to put self-care on the bottom of your to-do list. But God made you and me. He cares and provides for us. He loves us.

We can honor and worship Him by getting enough rest, eating well and staying fit. Then we can be fully equipped to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice to the Father.

Let me hear of Your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting You. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to You. Psalm 143:8

💕💕💕

I remember those times. Times when I felt like I had to put everyone else first. Afterall, we had 4 children. There was 10 years between the first and fourth.

But what did I know back then as a young and onto middle age mom?

I learned much later in life that mom's need to take time for themselves too. Because how can we take care of our loved ones, if we are so drained and maybe even a mess ourselves?

So while you are taking care of your family, don't forget that God wants you to be all that you can be to them. And he wants you to be all that you can be to yourself.

And most importantly, he wants you to be all you can be...

to him.

Thanks for coming by today, Friends. Ths has been a great series provided mostly to us by the author of those ways we can worship God. Tomorrow I will be starting a new series. I hope you will come back to check it out.

Have a blessed day that God has made for you!

12 Simple Ways to Worship God Everday (Tip 11)

“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14

12 Simple Ways to Worship God Everday

11. Worship God by loving the people in Your life.

You and I were for this time and place. One of the ways I can show God my love and worship is to intentionally love the people in my life.

So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. John 13:34

💖💖💖

It's certainly true. We are born for a time like this. Perhaps not to do some great things like many people do. Like Queen Ester did in her day. But God has a purpose for each of us.

Maybe we won't even understand the scope of of it in this life.

But we will. In time. In God's time.

And in the meantime, thank God for those that he has put in your life. Because all too soon they (or you) can be taken from this earth and life on earth may never quite be the same.

God knew what he was doing when he created you. When he created those around you.

So, love him, by loving them.

Thanks for coming by. I apologize for this week. It has been a busy and sometimes overwhelming week for me. However, God is ever faithful as I hope the rest of August will settle down a bit.

God bless!

12 Simple Ways to Worship God Everday (Tip 10)

12 Simple Ways to Worship God Everday

10. Remember blessing anniversaries and celebrate the moments of God’s grace.

This is another favorite … we mark our calendar and celebrate blessing anniversaries like the Children of Israel celebrated the Passover. A few ideas are … Baptism birthdays. The day you met your spouse. The day you got engaged. The day you received good news from the doctor. Etc.

I will remember the things the Lord has done. Yes, I will remember the powerful works of long ago. I will think of all Your work and keep in mind all the great things You have done. Psalm 77:11–12

💕💕💕

God works on us every day. To mold us into his likeness. To prepare us for something that is coming, that we may not even know about in the moment. Or sometimes just to surprise us.

Like the day now over 52 years ago when both my now husband and myself had been invited to my sister's house one evening. He by her husband. Me by my sister. It had not been planned. It had just happened that way.

We met, dated, and the rest is history.

Was it ordained of God? After all, he was not saved.

We came from two different kinds of family.

He wasn't raised in a Christian home.

I was.

And so, the Lord had a lot of work to do in those ensuring years. To bring us to where he wanted us. And he did.

Oh, but he isn't finished with us yet.

No. He is still working on us.

But we can celebrate and remember how far he has brought us along with all the other things that he has done over those years.

And rejoice in them.

Thanks for coming by Friends.

God bless you!

12 Simple Ways to Worship God Everday (Tip 9)

12 Simple Ways to Worship God Everday

9. Go outside and take a walk—enjoy God’s creation.

It’s so easy to get distracted by entertainment, social media, and life’s demands. I need to remember to take a break and enjoy the beauty that’s right outside my door.

The heavens declare the glory of God. The skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech. Night after night they reveal knowledge. Psalms 19:1-2

💕💕💕

It is a bit hard to do this in the city, with traffic practically on your doorstep. That was the way it was for us for about 15 years. Before that we lived in the country and most of the time, I was too busy to look around and marvel at the work that God had done in nature. But since we have moved on to another state, and a different part of God's world, he has blessed us with a bit of the nature that I have come to enjoy right in my back yard. As you may have read in earlier posts, I sit on my back patio early in the morning and feed the critters that come up to eat what I put out for them, and I am always awed by nature and those little guys that have come to do this each day. God's handiwork. Carved out for us many years ago that would come to mean so much.

Thank you, God, for your gifts for us to enjoy.

Thanks for coming by today, Friends. May blessings from God come down to you in the new week ahead.

Apology

If you have been here the last couple days, you would have wondered why I replaced 7 for 12 in this series. All I can say that it was a mistake which I just found this morning. I am so sorry and thank you for your patience.

12 Simple Ways to Worship God Everday (Tip 8)

12 Simple Ways to Worship God Everday

8, Intentionally surrender your day to God.

A dear friend taught me this morning prayer…

Lord, I have surrendered this day to You. I will follow where You guide and do Your will as You reveal it to me. Please help me to fulfill this promise that my life might glorify You alone. Amen.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20

Surrender:

VERB

  1. cease resistance to an enemy or opponent and submit to their authority:

"over 140 rebels surrendered to the authorities"
    synonyms:
capitulate · give in · give (oneself) up · yield · concede · submit ·
The above meaning of course, comes from a dictionary. But what does it mean spiritually for us?

Consider this:

Surrendering to God is a relinquishing of rights and will. It’s yielding your life – thoughts, actions, and spirit to God. It is opening up a tight-closed fist of control and placing trust in God instead of ourselves. The surrender to God meaning is giving up and letting go of the kingdom of this world – which includes the kingdom of self.

I like this definition better. Don't you?
Sometimes it's not easy to do. And it may mean a daily choice to give ourselves to God instead of self.

Galatians 2:20 is a good one to tell God at the start of each day and maybe many times in a day, that indeed we have been crucified with Christ because by faith he lives in us, all because he died for us.

And because he lives, we can face anything that comes up against us.

Thanks for stopping by Friends. Have a blessed day!

12 Simple Ways to Worship God Everday (Tip 7)

12 Simple Ways to Worship God Everday

7. Read a Psalm to start the day.

So many of the Psalms are pure worship and they consistently remind me of who God is and all He does. And He’s still doing it all today. Tomorrow looks good too! He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living. Psalm 19:7–8

💗💗💗

Indeed. God continues to do good things. Even in our sad times. Even in our bad times. Even right now.

No matter what is going on around us. The news pours out a lot of bad stuff. If things couldn't be any worse, our government continues to battle against themselves. And us.

And yet, there is One that we can count on in these desperate times.

Psalms 4:8 - I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety

So far as end of times, its like this:

Who

What

When

Where

Why

How

What is going to happen?

When is it going to happen?

Where is going to happen?

Why is it going to happen?

How is going to happen?

We have so many questions. And most of the answers we find in the Bible. Others we just have to trust in God. But in the meantime, it's like we want Jesus to come and get it done, because He is the Who in the questions above.

And yet, it's not in our timing. It's in God's time. And as David said back in his day, we can dwell in safety and peace, because God's got our backs. This world doesn't. Our government doesn't. And even our families may not.

But thank God. He does.

And we can look to the Psalms for comfort and hope.

Thanks for coming by today, Friends. God bless you because he is good

12 Simple Ways to Worship God Every Day-Tip 5

12 Simple Ways to Worship God Every Day

5. Sing and dance like David.

I love this one … turn up the praise music and dance with joy.

I don’t dance in the car but I do love to sing and it’s hard to be impatient with other drivers when my heart is filled with worship.

Your kids will love it if you sing and dance with them, too!

And David danced before the Lord with all his might, wearing a priestly garment. 2 Samuel 6:14

They should praise Him with dancing. They should sing praises to Him with tambourines and harps. Psalm 149:3

💗💗💗

I agree. There is just something about singing to God that brings us closer to him. Or is it him to us? As for dancing? I can't do much of that anymore, but it is still a great way to show our Lord that we love him. Even if it really isn't what it can be called dancing. Just moving and singing his praises is good. And good exercise too, I might add.

So, if you haven't tried this way of worshipping God before, I encourage you to try it. I know you will be blessed!

Thanks for spending a few minutes with me today.

Have a blessed day!

Silent Night

Silent Night “Silent Night” is a favorite Christmas song for many people around the world. Its gentle melody suggests a “heavenly peace” ...
