Standing on God's Promises (PROMISE #3)

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Genesis 3:15

Genesis 3:15 is the very first promise we find in God's Word. Adam and Eve had sinned. And then they tried to cover it up by blaming it on someone else. Adam blamed Eve and she blamed the serpent (
Satan)

What to do now, they might have wondered. So they tried to hide from him. God had given them this beautiful garden that had every provision in it that they would ever need. Now, was death all there was to look forward to?

But God knew that they were human and were also imperfect. Unlike the creations in heaven that were perfect. Except for those that followed Satan, of course.

He knew that there would be many more people born into this world that would sin and he did not want to see all of his creation end up in hell with the devil.

And so, this passage in Genesis was and is his promise to us that there would be a Savior coming that would crush the head of the one who had talked Eve into eating from the tree that God had forbid them to.

And of course, that was what Jesus did when he died on the cross to become the Sacrifice for all that would believe.

It was God's grace that made it all possible to give us the promise of yesterday in John 3:16. But because he is a gentleman and does not push his will on anyone, he also gives us the choice.

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15

I am thankful that when Adam and Eve did what they did that could have ruined it for the world that was coming, God's grace made the promise that there would come One that would save the world for their sins. For those that would choose to follow him.

Thank you for coming by. Have a blessed day!
