Mary and the Donkey: (Christmas Myths Unrapped) Day 8 countdown....

Did you know that Mary probably didn't ride on a donkey when she and Joseph were on their way to Bethlehem?
Nope. It is one of the myths that we have come to believe about the birth of Jesus.
She may have.
But the Bible does not tell us how they traveled.
Perhaps they walked.
And if they did that, what a trip that was for a mother-to-be.
Or there may have been others headed to Bethlehem as well that had wagons and maybe gave them a ride.
We simply do not know their mode of transportation.
It was not an important enough subject to add to the scripture.
What other myths about the Birth of Jesus do we believe to be true but may not have been true?
For the next few days, I will give you some information that you and I grew to believe
that maybe were not true.

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. Luke 2:1-5

Thanks for coming by today, Friends. Have a blessed day!
