This church symbolizes the condition of God's people during the Dark Ages of persecution. During this time period, the organized church itself became the persecutor. Our Savior referred to this period in His wonderful prophecy recorded in Matthew 24. He said:
“For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened” (Matthew 24:21- 22).
God has a special promise for His persecuted children in Revelation 2:25-26, 28: “But hold fast what you have till I come. And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations… I will also give that one the morning star.”
Jesus is the Morning Star. Here He is promising us Himself. Jesus wins in the end. He is promising us the victory even before it happens!

Revelation 6 describes the opening of six of the seven seals by the Lamb, revealing a series of divine judgments including conquest, war, famine, death, the cry of martyrs, and cosmic upheaval.
Verses 1-2: The First Seal – The White Horse
The Lamb, representing Jesus Christ, opens the first seal, and one of the four living creatures calls John to “Come!” John sees a white horse whose rider holds a bow and is given a crown, going forth to conquer. This rider symbolizes conquest or false peace, often interpreted as the Antichrist or a figure who exerts authority deceptively, using power without immediate violence (no arrows) to dominate the earth. The imagery reflects the beginning of God’s judgment and the unfolding of end-time events, paralleling Old Testament prophecies in Daniel and Matthew 24 .
Verses 3-4: The Second Seal – The Red Horse
The second living creature announces the opening of the second seal, revealing a red horse. Its rider is granted the power to take peace from the earth, causing people to slay one another, and wields a great sword. This represents war and bloodshed, illustrating the escalation of human conflict during the Tribulation period .
