Praying for Ourselves? (part one)

A thought entered my mind this morning as I was sitting on my patio enjoying the early hours and watching the birds. I pray out there a lot. Mostly every morning. But this morning I thought about that. And remembered a time when I prayed for others but never myself.  I had thought prayer for oneself was a selfish thing. But now I realize it is not. After all, our Lord and Savior prayed for himself. If it was good enough for Him, should it not be good enough for us?

And I wondered this morning, how many Christians feel the same way. I don't know but I decided to see what I could find about praying for ourselves. And here is what I found.

Should Christians Pray for Ourselves?

Christians are encouraged to pray for themselves as part of their spiritual journey. The Bible teaches that prayer is direct line of communication with God, and it is essential for personal growth and maturity in faith. Here are some key points to consider when praying for oneself:

And I agree. The answer is yes and really should not have to be asked about or wondered about in our own personal lives.

The thing is, those thoughts of it being selfish probably are coming from the enemy. Of course, he doesn't want us praying for ourselves. Talking to God is a no-no in his "book" if you will. If he can keep us from it, he certainly will.

However, so much goes on in our lives that we need God's help to get through this life. Prayer to Him for our very lives will build us up and strengthen us. Something the devil does not want.

If you have wondered about that in your life, do not feel it is a selfish thing to do even though all that is happening around us.

Thanks for coming by today, Friends. In tomorrows post I plan to go a bit further into this subject. I hope you will come back for that. Have a blessed day in Jesus.
