31 Days of Christmas/12 Days of Christmas Explained. Or is it?

rifle paper co. 12 days of xmas card... 1.A partridge in a pear tree! 2.Two turtle doves, 3.Three French hens, 4.Four calling birds, 5.Five golden rings, 6.Six geese a-laying, 7.Seven swans a-swimming, 8.Eight maids a-milking, 9.Nine ladies dancing, 10.Ten lords a-leaping, 11.Eleven pipers piping, 12.Twelve drummers drumming,Continuing on with these so called facts of the Christmas Carol, 'The Twelve Days of Christmas', so what was the other side of the story that the Catholics at the time were being being persecuted and used this carol as a code to teach their children about their faith?

According to The 12 Days of Christmas, explained: the story behind the carol - Vox there is a discrepancy.. Their teachings really did not need to be in a secret code because they were not really being all that persecuted in that era. Also, the nature of the song does not fit with the character of the church at that time. And finally, there have been no researcher ever to have found a definitive explanation as to how the gifts correlate to Catholic catechism.

I also note that the gifts added together were quite pricey for the time period according to PNC Financial Services annual Christmas Price Index. "The index calculates the cost of all the gifts in the song based on current market rates; 2018's total comes up to a hefty  $39,094.93 or $179,609.46 if you count each mention of an item separately (which would amount to 364 gifts in all)-up from 1.2 percent from last year."

I do not know.If so, could it still be that that they had come up with a way of disusing their faith in this manner. I mean, who is to say? It could have very well have thrown off the King who would was trying to destroy their faith by singing about something so far out of their reach, financially that he would not know what they were really singing about. Couldn't it have been that way? Or perhaps, it was just in the imagination of the person that first wrote the story if they were not well off. Right? I guess there could be other possible reasoning as well. Who is really to know? And it is really all that important to us today? Maybe not so much. But interesting it is to some. Maybe?

Who knows for sure. I found that there are sites that refute it and those that don't. Not being Catholic myself, I have to tell you that I have no idea and without further study on it as to what the feasts as aforementioned in my blog may have to do with it, I have to tell you, I just do not know.

Perhaps it is like chasing an elusive bird that you just cannot catch. You may not really need it. Maybe you just want to find out more about where it came from. But you just can't seem to because there are too many things written about it that you can't prove. So maybe it is better to just enjoy the things you read about and stop chasing it. Maybe this song is like that. Enjoy singing it through the holidays, whether you are pro or con in its teachings on what the gifts could mean. And then let it go until next year.

These are difficult, if not impossible, to plausibly refute. Even C.S. Lewis was convinced.Or maybe you would do your own study on it. I for one, chose to lay it down. It is way to involved for me to continue on about. Really. Because the fact it that in my world, it is interesting yes, but all that important? No. The birth of Jesus carries so much more weight for me. And really, that is what Christmas is truly all about!

Today's Christmas Scripture Reading:

Behold, the days are coming says the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and execute justice and righteousness in the land. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name which he will be called, The Lord is our righteousness. Jeremiah 23:5-6

But for you O Bethlehem, Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall one come forth one for me who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming if from old, from ancient days. Micah 3:5

Behold the virgin shall conceive and bear a son and they shall call his name Immanuel. (which means God is with us) Mathew 1:23
