Who is Our Hope In?

Who covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow on the mountains. He gives to the beast his food, and to the young ravens that cry. He does not delight in the strength of the horse; or take pleasure in the strength of a man.The Lord takes pleasure in them that fear him, in them that hope for his mercy. Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem, praise thy God , O Zion. For he has strengthened the bars of your gates; he has blessed your children within you. He makes peace in your borders and fills you with the finest of wheat. Psalm 147:8-14

PSALM 147:11 - The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.

We hope in God. Not because he delights on the rain he sends, or the grass to grow. Not because he delights in  the strength of anything he does. But he delights in those that willingly fears, follow and loves him. Praise Him!

Great is the Lord, and of great power; his understanding is infinite The Lord lifts up the meek: he casts the wicked down to the ground. Redeem Me!

Soul Redeem from SIN!!!
Consider my enemies, for they are many. And they hate me with cruel hatred. O keep my soul , and deliver me; let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee. Let integrity and unrighteousness preserve me for I wait for thee. Redeem Israel, O God, out of his troubles.Psalm 25:19-22

Hello Friends. If you read my post yesterday, you will have seen the mistake I made. I was getting ahead of myself, thinking that today was Sunday, and not Saturday. We all make mistakes, right? I learned to laugh at mine years ago when I realized that I am not alone. Yes, everyone does it. So that being said, I am going to go ahead with the same plan that I had yesterday. Just one day sooner.

Do you have a story? Most everyone does. Most everyone goes through some kind of  time in their life, when things are tough. And so I decided to find someone's story and add it to my blog today. What follows is Becky's Story. If you would like to visit it, please go to:Becky’s Story: My Epileptic Seizures Stopped — Stories of God's Grace

Becky's Story: My Epileptic Seizures Stopped

Becky lives in Alabama. She experienced a childhood accident that caused her many physical, emotional and social difficulties for 30 years. But when she cried out to God, he poured his grace unto her and healed her. Here is her story.

The Day Everything Changed

One day when she was six years old, Becky went with her sister to ride their new horse. Her sister could ride very well, but Becky had never ridden a horse.Becky's sister helped her get up on the horses's back and she rode him around the field.

But as horses often do, he suddenly decided to head for the barn. As he barreled through a swing set that was made of wooden telephone poles, Becky was thrown from the horse and her head was slammed into one of the poles. Her sister helped her get back on the horse and Becky fell asleep.

The accident caused epilepsy, a condition Becky lived with for 30 years. According to WebMD in about 70 percent of epilepsy diagnoses, there is no known cause. In those cases that do have a clear cause, the known causes of seizure typically involves an injury to the brain. Other causes include low oxygen to the brain during birth, brain tumors, genetic conditions that result in brain injury, infections such as meningitis or encephalitis and stroke.

Becky's Seizures Become More Serious

In 2017, the international League Against Epilepsy renamed the types of epilepsy seizure to make the names more accurate, less confusing, and more descriptive of what is happening. The current classification describes where seizures begin in the brain, the level of awareness during a seizure and other features of seizures. 1 At first Becky had what were once called "petit mal seizures"(1). These seizures began in both sides of the brain at the same time. They began and end abruptly and are common in children.

Then Becky began having what used to be called "grand mal seizures." Now referred to as "tonic clonic seizures" they cause a person to lose conscience. The muscles stiffen and the body makes jerking movements. These seizures tend to last one to three minutes and take longer to recover from then the other types of seizures.

God Heals and Saves

"That is when I knew I could not keep going on my own." Becky says. She recited the Psalm 23 for a week and prayed to God. "I asked him to save me and he did. He also healed me of the epilepsy, she says. Before Becky could drive an automobile, she had to be seizure free for five years. "The Lord took me through each day. I can now drive and do things that others are able to do." she says. She has not had a seizure for 36 years. "When God saved me, He made me a new person. He showed me that he is able to do what seems impossible."

My own thoughts on Becky's story

While it is an amazing story of hope and grace, and we can rejoice with her because it is nothing less then a miracle, it is not unique, Shes also includes the scripture in Mathew 4:23 and 24 where Jesus went through all of Galilee preaching and healing all that came to him with all kinds of diseases and sicknesses.

But brought down from that time to now, he has and does heal now as then. He preforms in others, the miracles that he preformed for Becky. Because what he has done for others, he can do for you. And because with God, all things are possible. Mark 19:27

PRAISE JESUS!

Thanks for coming by today, Friends. I will be back tomorrow! Until then,
God bless you!

Happy saturday

Forgive All My Sins

The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will show them his covenant. My eyes are ever towards the Lord, for he shall  release my feet from the snare. Turn to me and be merciful to me for I am desolate and afflicted. The troubles of my heart have grown,  O bring me out of my distresses. Look at my affliction, and my pain and forgive all my sins. Psalm 25:14-18.

Feel my pain and see my trouble.    Forgive all my sins. Psalm 25:18

Yesterday's Trivia Question:

In verse 23, what did David mean when he said this, "...I shall go to him, but he he shall not return to me."

Because of David's sin, (he had Bathsheba's husband killed so that he could sleep with her), and the fact that he had impregnated her, God's judgement on him was for David's son to die. David knew that his son was now with God in heaven and he could not bring him back, but he would one day see him when he himself went to be with God.

Hello Friends. I am not offering a trivia question for tomorrow. Since it is the Lord's Day, I am going to change gears a bit and do something different. The next trivia question will be on Monday. Have a wonderfully blessed day today! Thanks for coming by.

O Lord, Pardon My Iniquities...

The meek he will guide will he guide in judgement and the meek will he teach his say. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto those that keep his covenant and testimonies. For thy name's sake, O Lord, pardon my iniquities; for it is great. What is man is he that fears the Lord? Him shall he teach in the way that he should choose. His soul shall dwell with ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth. Psalm 25:9-13

Yesterday's Trivia Question:

What was David's reaction to God's punishment? 2 Samuel 12:15-23

David first tried fasting because he did not want God to kill his son. Then he wouldn't get up out of bed, or eat and drink anything. And he wept.He became depressed as it were. After the child died, he did get up and got dressed and ate and he worshiped God. There was nothing more he could do to save his son.

Today's Trivia Question

All the Day long, I wait for you....

Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou are the God of my salvation: on thee do I wait thee all the day. Remember, O Lord thy tender mercies and  thy  loving kindnesses, for they have been ever of old. Remember not, the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercies remember me for thy goodness sake, O Lord. Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he will teach sinners in the way. Psalm 25:5-8

Show me the path where I should walk, Oh Lord, point out the right road for me to follow lead me by your truth and teach me for you are the God who saves me all day long I put my hope in you. -Psalm 25:4-5

Yesterdays Trivia Question:

After Nathan confronted King David, he repented to God and was forgiven. But David still had to pay the consequence for his sin. What was his consequence? 2 Samuel 12:15-18

God stuck his son that was born from he and Bathsheba's affair, and then his son died.

Today Trivia Question

What was David's reaction to God's punishment? 2 Samuel 12:15-23

Hello Friends. I apologize for not posting yesterday. But let me say this about David's sin and the fact that he had to pay the consequence for it.Sin is never acceptable to God. But his forgiveness of it is. We all do it. As hard as we try not to, we face it everyday we are alive. Just as God loved David, so he loves us as well. And as we know, Jesus did pay the penalty for our sin, that once we ask him to forgive us, he will. However, that does not always let us out of having to pay the consequences of own sin. But the good news is that, one day, if we have asked God into our lives, we will find ourselves in heaven with him. That is called grace and mercy from him, and eternity in the house that he has prepared for all those that love him. Have a blessed day!

Oh My God, I Trust in Thee!

Unto thee oh Lord, do I lift up my soul. Oh my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not my enemies triumph over me. Let none that wait on you be ashamed; let those that be ashamed that transgress with out a cause. Show me thy ways, O Lord, show me your paths. Psalm 25:1-4

Yesterdays Trivia Question:

Why did Nathan rebuke King David? 2 Samuel 12:7-12

Because King David had committed adultery with Bathsheba, and had her husband killed.

Today's Trivia Question:
After Nathan confronted King David, he repented to God and was forgiven. But he still had to pay the consequence of his sin. What was his consequence? 2 Samuel 12:13-15

Hello Friends. God does forgive us when we sin if we sincerely ask him. But most times we too have to pay the consequences for our own sin. Thank God though that he doesn't hold us responsible once he forgives us, for Psalm 103:12 tells us that he removes them from as far as the east is to the west for us. Only a loving Father could do that for us. Have a blessed day in the Lord, today!

Better is One Day in the House of the Lord...

For a day in thy courts is better then a thousand else where; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of God then dwell in the tents of the wicked. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those that walk blameless. Lord Almighty, blessed is he who trusts in you. Psalm 84: 10-12

Put On the Lord Jesus Christ!

Let us walk honestly, as in the day: not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering (outside of marriage) and wantonness (recklessness) , not in strife and envying. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. Romans 13:13-14

Romans 13:13-14 (KJV) ~ Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

And Sampson said, "Let me die with the Philistines." And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon all of the lords and upon all of the people that were there.

What did King Solomon do in Israel? 1 Kings 6:1

Hello, Friends. It is time for us to stop all the rioting going on, to be sober and to deny the flesh outside of marriage. Jesus is coming back and we must be ready to go back with him! Are you ready?

Lord, Lord

Not everyone that saith unto me Lord, Lord shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he that doth the will of my Father, which is in heaven. Many will say in that day,  Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name, and in your name have cast out devils, and in your name have done many wonderful works? And then I will profess unto them, I never knew you. Depart from me, you that work iniquity. Therefore whoever hears these sayings of mine and doth them, he will be a wise man, which builds his house on a rock.  And the rain descended and the floods came and the winds blew and beat onto that house and it fell not: for it was founded on a rock. And he that hears them and does not do them is a foolish man which built his house on the sand. And the rains descended, and the floods came and the winds blew and beat upon the house and it fell, and great was the fall of it. Mathew 7:21-27

Matthew 7:21

August 12th Trivia Question:

Sampson told someone the answer to his riddle. Who was it, and what did he/she do with the information? Judges 14:17-18

Sampson's wife asked him to give her the answer to the riddle because the guests at the wedding could not figure it out. And so Sampson did and she then went to them and gave them its answer.

Today's Trivia Question

How did Sampson die? Judges 16:30

Hello, Friends. Thanks for coming by today. According to Mathew 7:21-27, there will be many that think they will get into heaven. And yet, that scripture tells us they will be turned away by Jesus himself. We must be ready to go when it is time, and yet people put off his free gift of salvation because they think they have time and don't want to give up their "good times." However, 2 Corinthians 6:2 says, "Now is the accepted time, behold now is the day of salvation". We must hear and we must do, so that we won't be counted in the numbers that will be turned away at heaven's gate.

Until next time, have a blessed Lord's day!

Standing Still

God instructs us often to stand still and look to Him for solutions. A study into what waiting on God looks like, biblical examples, and musings on faith.

iF YOU WILL FEAR THE LORD AND SERVE HIM, AND OBEY HIS VOICE, AND NOT REBEL AGAINST THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LORD, THEN SHALL BOTH YOU AND ALSO THE KING THAT REIGNETH OVER YOU CONTINUE FOLLOWING THE LORD YOUR GOD; BUT IF YOU WILL NOT OBEY THE VOICE OF THE LORD, BUT REBEL AGAINST THE COMMANDMENT OF THE LORD, THEN SHALL THE HAND OF THE LORD BE AGAINST YOU, AS IT WAS AGAINST YOUR FATHERS. NOW THEREFORE STAND AND SEE THIS THIS GREAT THING THAT THE LORD WILL BEFORE YOUR EYES. 1 SAMUEL 12:14-16

Yesterday's Trivia Question:

How many guests at his wedding did Sampson ask to solve his riddle? What prize did he promise to give them if they answered it correctly? Judges 14; 11-12

30 male guests

He promised them 30 sheets and 30 changes of garments.

Today's Trivia Question:

Did any of them give him the right answer? And what did he do to those that did not have it? Judges 14:15, 19

Hello Friends. Thanks for coming by today. It is hard sometimes to stand still and wait on the Lord to answer our prayers. I have had a hard time doing that in my own life lately. And yet, I know that in all things, that God has the bigger picture and has his reasons why my life can be at a stand still at times. He wants us to be patient and wait on him. If you are tired of doing that in your life, just know that he understands and he will bring to pass those things that you are waiting on. Sometimes in a great and mighty way.  Even when it doesn't seem like he is doing anything. He is. He really is. Have a blessed day!

Why Me, Lord?

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all of our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those that are in any affliction, with the comfort which we are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort to. If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation, and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.

2 Corinthians 1:1-7

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds
Why me Lord? Why have you not answered my prayers for what I have been going through? Are you even listening to me God? Have you forgotten me? Do you even exist?

Have you ever asked God any of the above questions or others like them?

Some times we wonder why we are going through hard things in life. Why isn't he answering what we have been asking him,  may be our question to ask him as we are pleading our case before him.

We know he has his reasons. Heck, we keep hearing that in sermons. But that does little for us, when we are going through those things that threaten to tear us apart.

Maybe there isn't even a God that will give us those answers.

But in the above passage, we find one nugget (although not the only one) that answers that question of "why?" for us.

If we could sail along in life, never having a problem in the world, what good we be to anyone?  If Christ had not suffered what he did on earth, what good would he have been to come to earth at all, had he not been willing to do his Father's will:

As Christians we are called to be the "salt and light" to a dark world. (Mathew 5:13-16)

However, how we can be the salt and light in that dark world, if God just answers our prayers right off the bat, without letting us go through the hardships we find ourselves in?

We would be no good to anyone. We would be no good to his service.

But when we go through those things and get victory over them, we can share with others what we went through. And how God worked in those times and have empathy for others and provide hope and comfort that God will work in their lives, as well.

Affliction. Not an easy thing to have to endure when we go through things sometimes. But it is for our own good, and the good of those that God may send our way, to help them through theirs.

Answer to the last Trivia question:

What do you suppose the riddle that Sampson asked his male guests at his wedding meant?

I am sorry, but I have not found the answer to this riddle. At least so far, I haven't. However, I am still trying to find out. Until I do, and if I do, try the trivia question for today?

Today's Trivia Questions:

Commit Your Ways to the Lord

Fret not thyself because of the evildoers. Neither be envious against the workers of inquiry. For they shall soon be cut down like grass and whither like green herb. Trust in the Lord and do good; so thou shall dwell in the land and be fed. Delight thyself in the Lord; and he shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit thy ways unto the Lord; trust also in him and he will bring it to pass. Psalm 37:1-5

Psalm 37:4 Delight Yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart - Makewells -

Sometimes we look at the people that do evil and are envious of them because they have everything we don't, while we just struggle from day to day, trying to exist while we are trying hard to be what God wants us to be. We might throw up our fist at God and tell him its not fair. But do those people have what we have which far out weighs anything money can buy? The knowledge that one day, their riches will end, while our own may just be beginning? I opt for the struggles of this life, for what is in store for me in heaven. And in the mean time, God does promise to give those the desires of their hearts if they trust him. Maybe not always in this life, but always in the next.

What about you? Where do you fall on the spectrum of envy in this life?

Today's Trivia Question

What do you suppose the riddle that Solomon asked his male guests at his wedding meant in Judges 14?

You Are My Hope

But I will hope continuously and will praise thee more and more. My mouth shall show forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only. O God, thou has taught me from my youth and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.  Psalm 71:14-17

I will always have hope. I hope you do too.

Surrounded by God's Favor

Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my mediation. Hearken to unto the voice, of my cry,my King and my God: for unto thee will I pray. My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord, in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee and will look up. For thou are not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hates all workers of iniquity. Thou shall destroy all of them that speak lies: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy; and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. Lead me, O Lord in thy righteousness because of my enemies: make thy way straight before my face. For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher, they flatter with their tongue. Destroy them O God, let them fall by their own counsels, cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.  But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy: because thou defended them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. For thou, O Lord will bless the righteous: with favor will thou compass him as with a shield. Psalm 5:1-12

Psalm 5:12 | Bible Verses

As David did so long ago, our prayers should rise to God first thing every morning. Like David, we so want God to hear them because we put our trust in him, unlike the wicked who doesn't want him.  And he will destroy them. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but in his own time, he will.
Our prayers in the morning will set the tone for the day as we acknowledge him and unlike those that are wicked, he will guide and protect us.

Today's Trivia Question  At Sampson's wedding, what riddle did he ask his male guests to solve?  Judges 12:12-14
