But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. Luke 21:12
If any "end time" signs have come to pass, it is Luke 21:12. And this one did not take any time to have happened. We know that Jesus himself was persecuted when he was arrested by the Roman government and hung on the cross. And then immediately after his ascension to heaven, Peter and John were called by the Jewish senate and beaten for speaking in the name of Jesus Christ. (Acts 5:40) . Persecutions did not stop there. The apostles themselves were eventually put to death.
And on down through the ages it has gone. People going into hiding to try to escape being put to death so that they could go on preaching underground. People martyred because they name Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. It is happening in other countries where Bibles are confiscated and burned.
We heard that bibles were burned in Portland in August, in our own country. Were they? Because then it was said to be untrue.
Maybe it did not happen. Or maybe it had and afterward said to not be true to cover it up?
I do not know. But it is a good possibility that it was covered up. And if not now, it will likely happen sometime in the near future.
Whatever the truth may be, the fact is that Jesus had told his disciples that they would be persecuted and it did not stop with them. People that serve him are said to need a made up Jesus or God because they are weak and in need of a crutch to lean on. If they only knew. The fact is, we do need God to lean on, because we read in Proverbs 14:12:
Who wants to be persecuted and maybe even killed for the cause of Jesus Christ? I don't think any one really wants that. But if God requires it of us, will we answer it as the disciples and many other have done? Or will death be our end?
Is there any good news for being persecuted for the cause of Christ? Are there any rewards for it? If so, what is it?
The End Times. More to come tomorrow. Thanks for coming, Friends. God bless your day!
