Our Shield: #4 Earthquakes, Famines and Pestilences

And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. Luke 21:11

Throughout the history of the world, we have seen these signs. Did you know that according to: earthquakes in california history: the worst earthquake in just the state of California occurred on October 17, 1989  known as the “World Series earthquake,” caused 63 deaths, 3,757 injuries and more than $5.9 billion in property damage. It was felt extensively throughout the entire Bay Area..

According to: famines in history: the worst famine was the 'Ethiopian Great famine.' The Ethiopian Great famine that afflicted Ethiopia from 1888 to 1892 cost it roughly one-third of its population. In Sudan the year 1888 is remembered as the worst famine in history, on account of these factors and also the exactions imposed by the Mahdist state.

And then there will be pestilence. And so what is that exactly? (Some might ask)

I looked up its definition and this what I found. See: pestilence - Google Search

What does pestilence mean in the Bible?

Pestilence means a deadly and overwhelming disease that affects an entire community. The Black Plague, a disease that killed over thirty percent of Europe's population, was certainly a pestilencePestilence is also one of the four Horseman of the Apocalypse in the book of Revelation (which is part of The Bible).

And if we want a bit more exact on what it means in the bible, consider this:

What are the seven plagues in the Bible?

The plagues are: water turning to bloodfrogslice, flies, livestock pestilence, boils, haillocusts, darkness and the killing of firstborn children. The question of whether Bible stories can be linked to archaeological discoveries is one that has long fascinated scholar'sApr 18, 2019

As we see, none of these "end time events" have yet to begin. They are all recorded in the history of the world. We live with them now.

When will the end of the world come? As did the disciples, those that actually walked with Jesus in the flesh, we want to know. And it has been predicted numerous times through out history. by people that were those that Jesus warns us about to stay away from. Because, as he said, " No one knows the day or the hour."

I cannot say when that time will come. But friends, I will say that for many, the evil that is come, before Christ's return, is only going to be worse then it already is. Look what has happened in just the past few years. I wonder is that not enough to convince people? I do not have have all of the answers. But, I believe that judgement on this earth, though it will come and may be sooner then we know will not be pretty, as the earth continues to reject God's word..

What we do know for sure is, "all of these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet."

Are we close? Is the worst  yet to come? No one knows the day or the hour, so do not be deceived by those that claim another gospel, or another Christ. Our only hope comes from the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

But his word tells us not to be dismayed. For those proclaiming the true God, there is good news for all that waits Jesus Christ. He is our Shield! He is our strength, and he is our only hope!

Hello Friends, thanks for coming. Tomorrow will be another story of faith, to give us encouragement that God does love and care for us. This series on end times will resume on Monday, Nov.9th. Have a blessed day!
