16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
19 There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.
20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?
21 Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind? John 10:17:21
When we read in verse 16, Jesus told the people that day that there were other sheep that are not of the same fold but he must bring them into it.
What does that mean?
He was preaching/teaching to the Jews that day. So simply put, "other sheep" were/are those that are Gentiles. If you are a Jew, you can claim your rightful place in God's kingdom if you ask Jesus into you life. If you are not a Jew, you are a Gentile and have that same option by Jesus bringing you into the fold. For a more in depth description of what it means, please go to: Who are the “other sheep” mentioned in John 10:16? | GotQuestions.org
Additionally, he wanted them to know that no one could take his life. He alone had that power from God and it was his decision to make. No one, could take the credit because of this. (verse 18). Of course, some of the Jews that were there, thought he was crazy, had a demon or who knows what else. Others said, no way. A devil cannot open the eyes of the blind. (verse 21)
The Jews listening to him had seen him do many miracles while he was with them. Still, in order for them to believe he was the Son of God, some wanted more proof. But he didn't give it to them. Because as he said in verse 26-27, they weren't going to believe in him because they were not his sheep. His sheep knows him and therefore follows him.
They wanted to stone him but he left. Not all of them did believe him that he was God's Son, but many did. (verse 42)
The disciples had asked him, "Master, when will the these things be and what signs will there be...." (Luke 21:7), Unbeknownst to them, the signs has already begun. And we ask ourselves when is all this evil going to end? And, when will Jesus come back?
Many false prophets have tried to push the envelope to much detriment to their own "sheep" who blindly trust and follow them. But the answer to those questions are this: No one knows the day or the hour..., Mark 13:32. So you and I, we have to be ready. Are you?
Thanks for coming by Friends. I will be back on Wednesday, so hope you will drop by. God Bless!
