Time of Refreshing....

How to Pray Through the Entire Year – One Month at a Time

 Dec 29, 2025

During March, when spring begins, it’s a wonderful time to focus on praying for the renewal and revival you need from God. Part of that is praying for the help you need to strengthen your devotional times with God. If you’ve struggled with reading the Bible or praying regularly, ask the Holy Spirit for the power to establish new devotional habits that you’ll be able to stick with well. Ask God to show you how to rekindle your love for him.

Pray for a fresh hunger for God’s messages to you in the Bible. Ask God to help you build prayer and meditation habits you enjoy. Get excited about spending time with God and how God will renew you as a result. Isaiah 40:31 points out: “...those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” The more you pray for renewal and revival, the more God will give you.

As we wrap up our year together, I want to invite you into this meaningful spiritual practice: looking back on the year through the lens of Psalm 107 to identify the “fingerprints of God’s faithfulness. In this episode, we'll walk through four redemptive storylines found in Psalm 107—each representing a way God rescues, restores, and reorients His people. Whether you felt lost, trapped, wounded, self-destructive, or overwhelmed by storms, I encourage you to reflect on how God met you in weakness and brought deliverance. This episode is part of our How to Study the Bible Podcast, a show that brings life back to reading the Bible and helps you understand even the hardest parts of Scripture. Sometimes we all need times of refreshing. One day after a very long season of rebellion from our oldest son, who at the time had turned 18 and left home, a day of real refreshing came to me in the form of  a bible verse that God had led me to that day. After several years of problems, finally I had been given some relief.

Now don't get me wrong. We loved him so much and only wanted the best for him. But as with most teens, he wanted things to be his way.

But at the time, I needed that relief that only God could give.

Its been many years since then and (but thank God I have a fairly good relationship with him although he lives in another state) I don't remember where that verse is found or really what it said. But I have often said that God gives us what we need when we need it.

And at that time in my life, I really needed Him to refresh my spirit. And He did.

Now, all these years later I still feel the need for Him to refresh my spirit. And before I read today's article, I realized that I need that in my prayer life too.

Maybe you do as well. But, I am not even going to wait until March to pray for it. I will start today, asking God to do this for me. It is good advice.

You may want to get a head start on doing it as we at the beginning of a new year. God wants to hear from us and what a wonderful way to have a renewal of our relationship with Him.

Have a blessed day in Jesus on this 2nd day of our New Year!
