God's Role in the Trinity (part 2 of 6)

Yesterday, we looked at just some of the roles that God plays in the Trinity. How much he loves and cares for us. Protects and saves us. And so much more that I did not cover. Wow! To me, God is so amazing! Why would I want to not love him and obey his word when he does all that for me? And you?

However, there is a flip side to God's personality. Let's look at some of the things that are also a part of him.

  1. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. Romans 1:18
  2. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. John 3:36
  3. For behold, the Lord is coming out from his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity, and the earth will disclose the blood shed on it, and will no more cover its slain.Isaiah 26:21
  4. I will execute great vengeance on them with wrathful rebukes. Then they will know that I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon them.” Ezekiel 25:17
  5. The Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord is avenging and wrathful; the Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries and keeps wrath for his enemies. The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, and the Lord will by no means clear the guilty. His way is in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. He rebukes the sea and makes it dry; he dries up all the rivers; Bashan and Carmel wither; the bloom of Lebanon withers. The mountains quake before him; the hills melt; the earth heaves before him, the world and all who dwell in it. Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the heat of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken into pieces by him. Nahum 1:2-6
  6. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.Romans 6:23
  7. For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.” ...Hebrews 10:26-3
  8. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21
  9.  But because of your hard and impenitent heart, you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed. Romans 2:5
  10. And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’Mathew 25:39
Ummm. These are all sobering. God is love. But he is also jealous and can be angry.  That is why our hope in him is so important. Because it will save us from his wrath. Because he is so much more a loving God for those that love him and a vengeful God for those that don't. He offers us a way out. A plan to escape his wrath.

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. John 5:24

If you haven't trusted God before, now is the time to start. You have God's wrath to avoid and his love to obtain..Amen!

The Word of God Stands on its Own Merit: Romans 6 (part 2)

Read chapter 6 again for today: Paul made it clear that we as believers are not slaves to our sin. Granted, sometimes we struggle against it...
