Love Came Down So That We Might Go Up!

Jesus Christ Daily Bread - Community - Google+

Greater love has no man than this: that a man lay down his life for his friends. John15:13

This month is the month for love. Valentines Day is coming up soon, and on that day we like to give gifts to the people that we love. And that is not a bad thing. Celebrating the day with gifts, dinner or a romantic evening with our partner is a good way to spend the day. But just like the picture above, we somtimes think of the heart as a drawing of one, instead of what it really is. When we see the cross and all it entailed so long ago, that is what love is truly all about. God is love. He sent Jesus his son, to die for a world of people that were sometimes not so loving. And many were cruel. God sent his son to us so that we can accept him and go up to spend eternity with him someday. What if Jesus had decided the price was too much to pay? What if he had been unwilling to do what the Father had asked him to do? But he didn't. He did come down to allow himself to be whipped and ridiculed and nailed to that cross for your sake and mine. That is love! That is the kind of love we need. And as we think about what we will do for and with our loved ones this Valentine's Day, remember what Jesus did on the cross for us, because if he had refused to die on our behalf, life for us would not be all flowers and candy. Let us love one another, For God is love. I John 4:7
