After the Ressurection of Jesus (part 4)

Matthew 4:18-20 18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.

John21:1-25

Jesus had appeared to his friends soon after he had risen from the grave. Another place the disciples would see him would be at the Sea of Galilee. Seven of them had gone there to go fishing. But they weren't catching any. Jesus was on the shore but they did not know it was him. He asked them if they had any fish and they said no so he told them to cast his net on the right side of the boat. When they did this, they caught much fish in the net.

Peter was the first one to recognize Jesus. He was so excited to see him that he jumped into the water and swam to Jesus.

Imagine being so excited to see someone that you thought was dead, now alive that you would race to them.I for one, can't wait for the day when I can meet Jesus that way!

After they had caught the fish they built a fire on the shore and cooked them for breakfast. I wonder what they talked about while they sat there with Jesus? The events of the past few days? The things that would be happening soon?  I can't imagine them just eating in silence.There were times they seemed to be oblivious or confused by what Jesus wanted them to do. Did he use this time for more teaching to them? Whatever it was, I am sure Jesus had their full attention.

Another time he appeared to them on a mountain in Galilee. This was a very important meeting as it is where he commissioned them to go into all the world to preach the gospel.

 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mark16:15-18
And from that time on, the gospel has been and is being preached throughout the world despite the devil or any human being that has tried to stop it in any way. From the moment God spoke it into existence, his word stands forever.
