After the Resurrection of Jesus (part one)

Reconstruction of the scene as Peter and John run towards the tomb in the early morning

The ministry of Jesus Christ did not stop because he was crucified. Nor when he was resurrected from the grave. To the contrary.

Jesus began to reveal himself to his disciples.

The women had gone to tell the disciples that Jesus had indeed risen from the grave. I wonder what the disciples were thinking at that point. Were they confused? Perhaps angry? If anything, grief-stricken. And now these women had come to maybe rub salt in their wounds? Really? Was this a joke?

However, Peter and John jumped up to race to the tomb where they found it to be empty.  When they went into the tomb, they found it to be empty.

So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen. Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.) 10 Then the disciples went back to where they were staying. John 20:3-10
What did they think then? Had someone stolen his body? And if so, what did they do with it? Where was it?

They would soon find that no one had stolen Jesus' body. The promise of his resurrection had been fulfilled. Their good friend and Lord had returned from the grave. However, one disciple was not so sure about this whole thing. Like many of us, he had to see proof. And indeed he did see the proof. Join me tomorrow for his story.

With the recent passing of Dr.Billy Graham, I ran across this cartoon and had to share it. I know that my dad was one of those people.
