So what do we think of as we think of God's appearance? Maybe we think of him as that picture we see of Father Time, the mythical old man that we see sometimes at the beginning of a new year? An old man with a beard and sometimes a clock?
Ummm. I don't think that is what God would look like.
Perhaps he gives some the impression of a ruler sitting on his throne in heaven, with an angry look on his face, and a bolt of lightning in his hand?
No. That isn't what he looks like either. So what does he look like?
Actually, God is a spirit. John 4:24. And from just that scripture alone, we can deduce that we really can not describe his appearance. And furthermore, in Exodus 33:20 he says this: You can not see my face. No one can see my face and live."
That gives me the impression that he is so awesome that his glory does not allow our sinful natures to dare see him.
There were times that God did reveal himself to Bible Saints. And they did try to describe him the best way that they understood as humans. In Ezekial 1:26-28 he is described as glowing metal from the waist up full of fire, and from there down full of fire. Surrounding him was brilliant fire so bright that it was like a rainbow on a cloudy day. In Revelation 1: 14-16 John's description was that his head and hair were like woold as white as snow and his eyes like blazing fire. His feet were as glowing bronze. And out of his mouth was a double-edged sword.
He has to be so glorious to have been described in the only way that these men could make us understand.in their visions of him. How truly awesome he is to have been described in such a way. And yet, the bible says in 1 John 3:2 that someday, "we shall see him as he is." In all his glory because those of us that have accepted Jesus Christ here on earth will no longer have our old sin nature anymore He will be to us like no other animation that Disney or anyone else has ever dreamed up in their wildest dreams. Yes, to us! Will you be there to actually get to see God as he is? I hope so! That is just one part of eternity that I do not want to miss! How about you?

Hi Friends. I am so sorry I was not able to get a devotion ready for yesterday. I ended up being in the ER for almost all day due to a fractured rib. However, I am much better today and hopefully, it will not keep me from any more absences without letting you know. Tomorrow's question will be: Why Doesn't God Stop People From Mocking Him?
