What Does the Lord Require of You?

Bible Verse Printable -

As Christians, this is probably one of the most important questions that we can ask God. What do you require of me, Lord? Mich 6:8 says this: God requires us to do what is right, to love mercy and to walk humbly with him. But what does that mean in today's world when there is so much negativity all around us?

Have you ever gone through a checkout line in a store and had the clerk that waited on you, give you back too much change? Did you call her attention to it and give it back to her? Perhaps you did not catch it until you left the store. Did you go back in and return the change?

Maybe that sounds like a simple thing to you. Why bother? You might ask.  "They charge me too much for what I buy anyway." Or,
"They aren't going to miss this little bit and I need it more than they do anyway."

That is what it means to do right. No matter if it is a small thing or a large thing, right is right and wrong is wrong. To treat others fairly.

To love mercy is akin to God's loving mercy for us. We were once sinners and Christ demonstrated his mercy for us by dying on the cross for us. That is mercy of the greatest kind. And we are called to have mercy and love for each other. For those around us. When we have mercy for others, we will obtain mercy from God. Mathew 5:7

And then we are also called to walk humbly with God. Scripture points the way for us in several passages. I have listed a few here.

1. Walk in the light as he is the light. 1 John 1:7
2. Walk in obedience. Psalm 119:1
3. Walk in love as God is love. Ephesians 5:2
4. Walk in the spirit so as not to fulfill the lust of the flesh.       Galatians 5:16

If we are humble and we do these things, we are doing what God requires of us. Our walk with God can be the most exciting one we will ever take. Are you walking with God?  If not, I hope you will try it. You will never regret it!
