John's Account of the Death and Resurrectiondid of Jesus part two )

An analysis of the the painting "Ecce Homo" or "Behold the Man" by artist Antonio Ciseri. Explanation focuses on the figure of Pontius Pilate's Wife in the Painting.Through the eyes of John 18

\Pilate went out to the people and asked them, "What charges are you bringing against this man?"
"If he were not a criminal we would not have him handed over to you." They replied.
8
"Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law." Pilate said.

"But we have no right to execute anyone," they objected. "This took place to fulfill what Jesus said about the kind of death he was going to die."

Pilate then went back into the palace and asked Jesus, "Are you king of the Jews?"

"Is that your own idea? Jesus asked, "Or 'did others talk to you about me?"

"Am I a Jew?" Pliate replied. "Your own people and chief priests have handed you over to me. What is it you have done?"

Jesus said, "My Kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my Kingdom is from another place."

"You are king, then!" said Pilate

."You say that I am a king. The fact is that I was born and came into the world was to testify to the truth. Everyone that is on the side of the truth listens to me."

"What is truth?"

Pilate then went out to the Jews that had gathered there. He told them he had no basis for charging him. But if that is what they wanted, for him to release one prisoner during Passover, did they want him to release Jesus?

They shouted for him to release Barabbas who had taken part of an uprising.
