Luke's Account of the Death and Resurrection of Jesus (part tw0)

Through the eyes of Mark 23

Jesus was led away to face Pilate, by those that were gathered there. They began  accusing him of subverting the nation, opposing  paying Ceasar taxes and claiming to be Messiah, the king

Pilate asked him if he was King of the Jews, to which Jesus said, "You have said so."

But Pilate told the people that he could not find any charges against Jesus. Still they were insistent saying that his teaching was stirring up people all over Judea, which had started in Galilee.

Pilate then found out that Jesus was a Galilean, which was under the jurisdiction of Herod. And when Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased because he had wanted to see Jesus for a long time. He wanted to see a sign of some kind. So he asked many questions, and Jesus did not answer any of them. The chief priests and teachers of the law were all standing there and accusing him. And then Herod and his soldiers started mocking him. They dressed him in a purple robe and sent him back to Pilate, Herod and Pilate had up to this day been enemies, but with this event they became friends.

Pilate told everyone, that neither Herod or himself, could not find any charges against Jesus, and he did not deserve death. And so he was going to punish him and then release him.

But the people shouted to do away with Jesus and let Barabbas go instead. He was a murderer and had been thrown into prison for insurrection in the city.

Pilate still wanted to release Jesus, but the people kept shouting and after appealing to the crowd three times, he relented and releasing Barabbas, he gave him over to them. They had shouted,

"Crucify him! Crucify him!" and they had just been given what they wanted.

Hello Friends. Jesus is now on his way to the cross to die for our sins. It was not just the sins of those people in that crowd that put him there. Yes, it had been foretold in the Old Testament. But it was the sin of those people and all that were to come, that had done it. And that is why it is so important to understand that Jesus gave up his life for all of us. I pray that today as we observe Good Friday, that we keep Christ's death and Resurrection in the forefront of our minds. And I pray that you will have a very blessed day because he is no longer held in his tomb. He is alive! Next up will be his crucifixion. God bless!

Good Friday Blessings Have A Blessed Day
