Through the eyes of Mark 15 & 16
Watching the crucifixion of Jesus was Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of James, Joses, and Salome as well as some other women. They had followed him during his ministry and ministered to him. Evening had come and it was the day before the sabbath.
Joseph of Arimathaea had gone to Pilate to request the body of Jesus. Pilate wasn't sure if Jesus was already dead and so he asked the centurion if he was. When he found out that Jesus was dead, Pilate gave the body to Joseph.
Joseph wrapped the body in fine linen and laid him in a sepulcher which was made out of rock, and rolled a stone in its front door.
Both Marys's saw where he had been laid. When sabbath had passed, the two Mary's took sweet spices to anoint his body. That morning, the first day of the week, they went there as the sun rose. But they were saying among themselves, "Who will roll the stone away from the door?"
When they got there they saw that the stone had already been rolled away even though it was huge. And so they entered into the sepulcher and saw a young man on the right side, clothed in a long white garment and they became frightened. But he told them not to be frightened and said, "Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth which was crucified; he is risen, he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
But go your way and tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there you shall see him, as he said unto you."
The women left quickly, and were frightened but also amazed. They said nothing to anyone.
Jesus appeared to Mary Magnalene whom he had cast out seven devils. And she went and told those that were mourning him that she had been with him. When they heard that he was alive, they did not believe her.
After that he appeared in another form to two of them as they walked in the country. And then he appeared to the eleven as they were eating. And he scolded them because they did not believe that he was alive.
He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be dammed."
After he had spoken to them, he was received up into heaven and sat on the right hand of God.
And his disciples went forth to preach everywhere the Lord working with them, and confirming his word with signs following.
Amen.
