John's Account of Jesus' Death and Resurrection (part 3)

Soldiers cast lots over Jesus’ inner garment

Through the eyes of John 19

Pilate took Jesus and scourged him. The soldiers then made a crown out of thorns and put it on his head and put a purple robe on him. Then they said, "Hail the king of the Jews!" And smote them with their hands. Pilate took him before the people to again let them know that he found no fault in Jesus, but they still shouted, "Crucify Him!Crucify Him!" And so Pilate told them to take him, but again found no fault in him.But the people said to Pilate that they had a law that said he should die because he was calling himself the Son of God.  This made Pilate more afraid and he went into the judgement hall and asked Jesus where he came from, but Jesus didn't answer him. Pilate said to him, "Will you not speak to me? Do you not know that I have the power to crucify you?"

Jesus answered, "You would have no power, if it were not given to you unless it were given to you from above, therefore those that delivered me to you have the greater sin."

Pilate was about to go ahead and release Jesus but the people cried out saying, "If you let this man go you are not Caesar's friend and anyone that makes himself a king is against Caesar.

Pilate then took Jesus and sat down in the judgement seat in a place called Pavement, but in Hebrew was called Gabbatha.

It was in preparation for the Passover and Pilate said, "Behold your King!" But the people wanted him crucified and finally Pilate delivered him to be crucified and the people led him away.

He carried his cross to the place of the skull called Golgotha  And they crucified him and two others, one on each side of him. And Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. It said, Jesus King of the Jews. It was written in Hebrew, Greek and Latin. And then the chief priests said to Pilate, "Do not write King of the Jews, for I am King of the Jews."

But Pilate said, "I have written what I have written."

After they crucified Jesus, they divided up his clothes and cast lots for his coat.

The mother of Mary, his mother's sister, Mary Magdalene and Mary the wife of Cleophas were standing by the cross of Jesus. Jesus saw his mother and the disciple he loved, and said to his mother, "Woman, behold thy son!" And then to the disciple, said "Behold my mother.!" And from that time on, the disciple took her into his home.

After this, Jesus knew that all things he came to accomplish had been and he said, "I am thirsty."  Someone took a sponge and soaked it in vinegar and lifted it up to his mouth.

And then Jesus said, "It is finished." And he gave up the ghost.

Hello Friends. It was finished indeed. Or at least they thought it was. The Romans, the Jews, and Satan himself thought they would hear no more of the nonsense that Jesus had been preaching during his ministry. They were about to get a surprise and find that no, Jesus would not stay in the grave, but would rise from it, just what he had been preaching to them all along, and praise God, he is still alive! Have a blessed day!

God Bless You and Keep you. Long life will be your portion. Rejoice!!
