Mark's Account of the Death and Ressurection of Jesus (part four)

Through the eyes of Mark 15

The chief priests held council with the elders, and scribes and they bound Jesus and took him to Pilate who asked Jesus, "Art thou King of the Jews?"  Jesus answered, "Thou sayest it."

Pilate asked him again and this time, Jesus did not answer him. Pilate asked him how many things that witness held against him. Again Jesus did not answer him.

Pilate was surprised by this.

At the feast he released one prisoner, whom ever they wanted. There was a prisoner who had committed murder and an uprising in the government.  The people were crying aloud  for Pilate to crucify Jesus, and let the man Barabbas to go free. Pilate knew that the chief priests had persuaded the people to kill Jesus.

And so Pilate wanted to please the people and released Barabbas and then delivered Jesus to be crucified after he had been discouraged.

The soldiers led Jesus away to a hall called Praetorian, where they clothed him in purple and placed a crown of thrones on his head.

And then they began to salute him with , "Hail, King of the Jews!" They hit him on the head with a reed, and spit upon him, and bowing their knees, they worshiped him.

When they had finished mocking him, they took off his purple clothes and put his own back on him.  And led him away to be crucified.
.
And they had Simon, a Cyrenian to carry his cross where they took him to the place called Golgotha, which meant The place of the skull. They gave him wine to drink, mixed with myrrh, but he would not drink it.

When they had crucified him, they parted his garments and cast lots upon them, what every man should take.

The superscription of his accusation was written over, The King of the Jews. They told him to come down off the cross so that they could then believe.

After the 6th hour, darkness covered the land until the 9th hour. And then Jesus cried in a loud voice, " Eloi, Eloi lama sabachthani,  My God, my God, why has thou forsaken me.?"

Some of those standing by heard him call Elias and someone filled a sponge with vinegar and put it on a reed for him to drink and . They wondered if Elias would come to take him down.

But Jesus cried with a loud voice and gave up the ghost. And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

And when the centuruion stood over him saw that he had cried out and gave up the ghost, he said, "Truly, this man was the Son of God."
