And yet that is another way we can be obedient to him and receive his blessings this year. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God concerning you. 1 Thessalians 5:18. But why does God require this of me?
God does allow things to come into our lives that we do not like. But he gives us the grace to endure them. By being thankful to him in all things is acknowledging that we know that he will get us through whatever it is we are going through. It relieves us of the bitterness that builds up in us instead because thankfulness to God and bitterness can not reside in us at the same time.
His grace is sufficient for us (2 Corinthians 12;9) and blessed is the man is that is steadfast under trial, having stood the test, will receive the crown of life which the Lord will give to those that love him. James 1:12.
Thankfulness is not just a one day a year thing. It is for every day, in every circumstance. Those times we like and those times we don't like. Because during a time when we are going through something hard, by being thankful, that attitude can actually draw us closer to the heart of God because he is close to the broken-hearted.
.Blessings for this year and every year come from our obedience to God in all things. I pray that this short series on obedience has been helpful to set a new course for those that need help in this area. Tomorrow I will be wrapping up with what it means to be the ' light of the world' as I promised a couple of days ago. Thanks to all for your continued visits here and I pray God's blessing and favor on you today and all year!
January 9, 2019 Promise: Let the favor of our Lord our God be upon us and establish the work of our hands upon us, yes establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:27
