Expecting God's Blessing in 2019 Part Six What Does Salt Have to do with Obedinece?

Jesus told his disciples: "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt has lost its taste how can it's saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be throughout to be trampled on by people's feet."  Mathew 5:1
Matthew 5:13 "You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor?"
Wha did he mean by that?
We know that the characteristics of salt are two-fold. For one, it is a preservative and for two, we use it on our food to enhance its flavor.

What has that got to do with me as a Christian?

Salt in the ancient world was a rich commodity. Roman soldiers were paid in salt. The Greeks considered salt to be divine.

Different theologians have different theories about what Jesus meant by it. But, one possible meaning that stands out, is that it stops decay.

Check out our latest exclusive - the Pledge of Allegiance Poster. This makes a great classroom addition, as well as for your patriotic home decor. #pledgeofallegiance #poster #patriotismIn this world, do you see decay in it? Moral decay has been around from almost the beginning of the world. When I was a kid, just about 11 years old, Madelyn Murray O'Hair (an atheist who a few years ago was murdered along with some of her family) shocked America when she was able to convince the Supreme Court that prayer and Bible reading were against the constitution As a result, both were banned from then on in the schools, something that went on from the founding of the United States.. See Madalyn Murray O'Hair - Wikipedia What a great field day satan had with that one! Moral decay has been on the rise from that time on more than ever before.
As Christians, you and I are to be the salt that Jesus talked about that day with the disciples. We are to not only preserve our faith in God's word, and keep it going from generation to generation, but to flavor it, by obeying it, and to stamp out the decay that is happening to the best of our abilities with the help of Holy Spirit. We are called to make peace instead of strife, to help the poor, to love unconditionally.  And of course, much more.

Our obedience in this cause, will bring us blessing in 2019 and continue forever. If we don't give up and let man trample and stamp us out. We just cannot afford to let that happen especially here in the US.

Jesus did not stop there in his teaching. He also called them the 'light of the world'. What did he mean by that? Come back tomorrow for more. God bless you today and don't forget to bless someone else. Thanks for stopping by!

The Word of God Stands on its Own Merit: Romans 6 (part 2)

Read chapter 6 again for today: Paul made it clear that we as believers are not slaves to our sin. Granted, sometimes we struggle against it...
