The bible has several words that translate into blessings and more about them can be found if you go to What is a blessing according to the Bible? What does the Bible mean by bless? because it is an interesting read there.
The blessings of God went way back to when he first created the birds and sea creatures and told them to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:22) and his blessings carry on through the old and new testaments right down to his ultimate blessing of giving us Jesus Christ, who is the sacrifice for our sin. The first step in receiving Jesus Christ is by accepting him as Lord and Savior and then we can be sure that we as his followers have the right to all promises that are in the bible.
Obedience in God starts at the moment we accept Christ as our Savior. It is important to be obedient to him for as 1 John 1:2-3 says, "We know that we love the children of God when we love God and obey his commandments. for this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments and his commandments are not burdensome.
Anyone can hear God's word but not obey it, and do what it says. If we truly want to be blessed, we must be a doer and not just a hearer of it. James 1: 23
These are the first steps for getting God's blessing in our lives. And what is the first commandment God gives us?
You will have no other gods before me. Exodus 20:3.
Do we have other gods before him? We can have and maybe not even know it. Do we love money? Do we love our house, our car, our tv programs more than we love God so that our attention is more on material things than it is studying God's word? Putting other people before God is the same thing. And we have all done it in one way or another. But in putting these things before God is not winning us his favor.
It is putting him first that is. Putting him first and obeying his word is bringing on his blessing to us.
January 3, 2019 promise: For all the promises of God are "yes" in Christ. And so through him our "Amen" spoken to the glory of God. 2 Corthianians 1:20.
Thanks for your visit today Friends. I surely pray God's blessing for you and yours today! I hope you will come back tomorrow for more on God's blessing in our lives!
