Expecting God's Blessing in 2019 Part Three Replacing the Junk

I believe God. I believe the Word. I believe in Love. God is the Word and God is Love. Bible. Scripture. Truth. I live by these three words: IT IS WRITTEN. Romans 12:2There are many ways to be obedient to God. And certainly, one very important way is with our minds. Romans 12:2 says. "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the will of God is, that which is good, acceptable and perfect.

How do we renew our minds? It is not by sitting in front of a tv screen for hours watching mindless programming or playing video games for endless hours. It is not by spending money going to sports events or surfing the internet.

Sure those things can be enjoyable entertainment. But in our everyday activities, we must spend time with God to renew our minds by reading his word to find out what is his will. What is good. What is acceptable. What is perfect. Because frankly, we aren't always going to get much of that in the world. There has to be a better way. And that is in God's word.

If you wanted to get your own music without buying it, you had to either go shoplift records from the store or, like we all did, sit with our tape recorders by the radio, waiting till the dj finally played our favorite songs (only to have him usually screw it up by talking over the beginning of the song). Am I right? Anybody remember that?:)

In one of my previous blogs, I told of a bible study we went to years ago in the home of some friends that we knew. The husband led it and he likened our minds to that of a cassette player one time. You can record something on a cassette but then if you decide to replace it, you can hit the rewind button and record something over it.

Letting God do that by renewing our minds with his word is about the same thing. Taking out what is sinful and replacing it with what is not. Allowing him to do that is being obedient to him. But it does take sacrifice on our part. Sacrifice in giving up some of our entertainment time to be in his word.

And when we do that, he brings blessings into our lives. The question is, how much time are we willing to give him?

O God you are my God: early will I seek you. My soul thirsts for you. My flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. Psalm 63:1

His Word in Pictures - Mark 1:35The psalmist David got up early in the morning to seek and spend time with him.

Jesus went early in the morning to pray to his Father. He spent the nights praying. Mark 1:35, Luke 5:16, 6;12, and Mathew 14:23

Obedience. Spending time with God in his word and in prayer. Another way to blessing. Yes, indeed. Jesus does not call us to do something that he himself was not willing to do. The question is, will we do it?

May God bless your day!

The Word of God Stands on its Own Merit: Romans 6 (part 2)

Read chapter 6 again for today: Paul made it clear that we as believers are not slaves to our sin. Granted, sometimes we struggle against it...
