Now, in just a couple of years or so, I will be 70 years old and I am asking that question. Where has my life gone?
Speaking of getting older, did you know that according to the Bible, gray hair is called 'a crown of splendor and is attained by righteous living." ? Proverbs 16:31 Proverbs 20;29 It is funny that a few years ago in our church, our pastor who is just a little younger than myself, at that time had gray hair already. And he would kid my husband about his own very black curly hair and why didn't he have the gray hair. (He is a few years older then me!)
I had run across these scriptures around that time and reminded (kiddingly) our pastor as to who was the one that was living righteously.
Sadly though, the elderly are put down by much of the younger generation as people that have nothing to contribute to society, nothing to teach them. When just the opposite is true.
I never felt this way about my elders, but for most of my life, I didn't really appreciate them so much either. And now I wish I had. And I wish I had known what I know now and taken the time to learn from them, the things that they knew.
We age for a reason because God has made us that way. And so if you know someone that is of the older generation, take time to learn from them, because they can teach you many interesting things.
So on with this year. What will it bring? Where will we be a year from today? The New Year kicked off with a bang at midnight this morning. Our own might have been a little interrupted as about 8:30, our city had a power outage last evening! It didn't last long though before the power was restored. We don't know what caused it. And so festivities went on for party goers. The rest of us celebrated at home.
Have you decided to do a blessing or a prayer jar? (see my blog on 12/29) I have mine ready to go. I pray that God gives us a good year and fills our jars with many blesses and answered prayers.. Not just for my own family but yours and also our country's. We sure need his grace upon us as we move forward into the new year.
Did you know that there are 5467 promises that God has given us in his word? That is almost 15 promises for each day of the year that we can bank on and believe God for in 2019 if we apply them to our Bible reading. For this year though I am going to choose one promise each day to share with you so that you may see it come to pass in your own life.
The promise for today is Jeremiah 29:11. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."
I love sharing God's word with you. Hebrews 13:16 says, "Do not neglect to do good and share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God." And so I pray that this blog is beneficial for your life.It does not belong to me. It is dedicated to my Heavenly Father and any and all glory goes to him alone.Perhaps you can also share some of it with other people in your life, that don't visit it. Anyway, Thanks for coming today. May this year bring you joy, and peace and all the good things that God has for you!
