A Healthy Heart vs A Damaged Heart

Psalm 9:1 I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.

I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. Psalm 9:1

We know that our hearts are wonderful organs. They are the very life source of our being. Once the heart stops beating, we exist in this life no longer.

What is it about the heart that makes it so important in God's word?

It is because it can do much more than just beat to keep us alive.

  1. Our heart can be thankful. Psalm 9:1
  2. Our heart can be kept pure. Mathew 5:8. Pure of what? Hate, lust, jealousy are a few of the things.
  3. Our heart can trust in the Lord. Proverbs 3:5
  4. Our heart can meditate on the Lord. Psalm 19:14
  5.  A cheerful heart can be like good medicine. Proverbs17:22
  6. Our heart can have wisdom. Psalm 90:12
  7. Our heart can be full of God's love Romans 5:5
  8. Our heart can hide God's word. Psalm 119:11
  9. Our heart can be wise. Proverbs 23:15
However, our hearts can do us damage. Not only can they be damaged physically but they can do damage to our very souls.

  1. They can be sinful and unbelieving. Hebrews 3:12
  2. They can be full of anxiety. Ecclesiastes 11:10
  3. The heart can be sick. Proverbs 13:12
  4. The heart can become as hard as stone. Ezekiel 11:19
  5. The heart can be foolish and dark. Romans 1:21
  6. The heart can grow dull. Acts 28:27
  7.  The heart can be troubled. John 14:27
  8.   The heart can devise evil. Proverbs 6:14
  9. The heart can be crooked. Proverbs 11:20
  10.  The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately sick. Jeremiah 17:9-10
  11. The heart can be broken. Isahia 61:1
Yes, the heart can do many things for us besides keeping us alive. They can be negative or positive. Which would you prefer? A sick heart or a heart that loves and trusts God. A heart that loves those around you. A heart that guards you against all evil? We have to choose which side we are on, Which kind of heart we want. God spells it out for us. We just have to decide. That decision we make can mean life or death for us.

I am glad you came by today Friends. I pray that you desire a healthy and happy heart that only God can give. Thanks for coming. Have a blessed day!

❤️May God Bless You Norma. Thinking of you and Hal. Prayers for you both!
