The Prodical Son-God's Story Come to Us (part 4)

How we take the story of the prodigal son out of context | Christian News on Christian Today

Parable: A simple story used to illustrate a spiritual lesson, as told by Jesus in the Gospels. (Wikipedia)

The parable of the Prodigal Son was just a parable. Right? Yes. But then again, No. It was a lesson that Jesus wanted us to know about not only God's love but his forgiveness as well.

For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten Son Jesus Christ, that whosoever believes in him, shall not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Upon realizing he had hit bottom (I mean really, feeding the pigs and wanting to eat their food, had to have been rock bottom) he was ready to go to his father to ask for his forgiveness even if it meant that he would only be a servant. But his father, waiting patiently for his return, was overjoyed and accepted him back, so much that he threw a homecoming party for him.

As sinners, before coming to Christ, we were just as lost as this son was. When we are waddling in our sin, and come to the end of ourselves, sick and tired of the life we were living, we realize there is much more we can have because of what Christ did for us on the cross. Why accept anything less?

And Jesus is only too happy to take us to himself and give us a place with him in heaven. In fact, do you know that Jesus is not the only one that rejoices over our coming to Christ? Consider Luke 15:10.

There is joy in the presence of God's angels over one sinner that repents.

All of heaven rejoices! What a wonderful picture of God's love, grace and mercy for us when we commit ourselves to him!

But wait. What happens if we accept Christ as our personal Savior and then for some reason, at a later time we turn away from him? What then? Stay tuned. That will be tomorrows devotion.

Thanks for coming by today Friends. Please come back tomorrow for more of God's Word! Blessings to you and yours today!

Praise God For He Is Awesome.
